I hope you like my story and you find the stuff interesting that i write about.i also hope that you enjoy and have fun reading my book.
Louisiana Territory Purchase WHY DID THE UNITED STATES WANT LOUISIANA?
The president at the time was president Tomas Jefferson and he believed that the person who made the USA expand and made one family made one in whole is chosen child of god. Also if someone wanted to go from Oregon to Virginia such as Lewis, Clark and the rest of the crew they would have to go though Louisiana and that land belonged to France therefore there might be conflicts because France can be a little aggressive. Also the three rivers in Louisiana where used to transport things to another part of Louisiana or another state. Witch was very helpful a the time because they did not figure out a way to mail stuff easily yet.
HOW MUCH WAS LOUISIANA AND WHY DID FRANCE SELL IT?
This was a very good deal because Louisiana is 828,000 square miles the U.S just wanted New Orleans so they offered 2 million France did not take it they wanted more money for it. The next time the United States offered 10 million for New Orleans and France said that not only would they give them New Orleans but also give them the rest of Louisiana territory for 5 million more witch nowadays people call the deal of the century. France sold this land to the United States because the king of France, Napoleรณn, wanted the money for a war against Great Britten. I do not know about you but I would not sell Louisiana to support a war. Did you know that since the United States bought Louisiana it doubled the size of the United States over night?โ ฉ
U.S takes over Mexican territory How did it happen?
This was a very hard territory to get because the United States had to go to war to with Mexico to get this land his shows that this was not as easy as Louisiana purchase. It also shows that Mexico did not want to give up their territory to the US the United States did not like this so they signed up for a war. Apparently Mexico was ok with this and agreed to have a war. If I was in the Mexican army I would be very scared I wonder if they where scared too. One of the reasons why the war is because the United States thought that they had a god given right to expand to the west and the good thing about this war is that we got a lot of land from it is actually the biggest State in America. It was also where my dad and his sister were born. So my dad would of been from Mexico if the war did not happen. This war happened two long years of fighting that is a long time, but also remember that is was on and off not non stop. How did this effect Mexico?
During and after the war meany people such as soldiers and people in the village probably got their house wrecked or possibly died. Some of the roads were probably badly wrecked and lots of people probably went homeless. Many children went homeless and also died. Nowadays the Mexicans have their country and they are happy.
The Manifest Destiny What is it?
In the 19th sentry the pioneers believed it was their destiny to go west they thought that is was their duty to go west and that is one of the reasons why people went west back then if you where wondering. This was their well in their mind this was their destiny and that's why it's called the manifest destiny. Now just because they thought that it is their destiny to go west doesn't mean that they didn't have troubles going there but It did help and give them confidence through the tough journey. These people were settlers so I think that they could of traveled with other people that were going because of the gold rush or just because they wanted to start a new life. Where did the phrase manifest destiny come from well a long time ago a writer named John O'Sullivan wrote it in one of his articles.
Lewis and Clark Expedition What was the Lewis and Clark expidition?
After the Louisiana purchase president Tomas Jefferson decided that the land needed to be explored before people could live there and so he picked a really strong and smart man named Merriweather Lewis he said that he got to pick another man to lead the expedition he picked his best friend William Clark that he met in the army. William Clark was born august 1 1770 in Caroline country Virginia. Lewis was born on August 18 1774
What happened on the trip and what did the men pack?
Lewis packed many trading goods because he knew that he would run into Native Americans on the way and they may let them have some food for the goods. He also packed lots of food and water. On the way there they ran into the Shoshone they where nice and there was a woman in the tribe that spoke many different languages Lewis and Clark asked her if her and her husband and baby wanted to come on the expedition she said she would. Who did Lewis and Clark want to have on the expedition?
Lewis and Clark wanted people who had the talents they wanted to have in the core of discovery(that is their group). They wanted people that could speak different languages, people who can cut down trees and make boats and forts out of it they also wanted people who could hunt and catch food to eat for survival. And like Lewis and Clark they needed lots of explorers. And so now you know that Lewis and Clark are a veary important part of our history.
The Erie Canal What is the Erie Canal?
The Erie Canal as you have guessed is a Canal. It all started in 1795 when New York legislation group brought it up but the public despised the project. And so they mentioned it again in 1816 and plans were maid that construction would begin on July 4 1817 which is known as Fourth of July! The Erie Canal has the wit of 70 feet and the depth of 7 feet. It can also handle boats that carry 240 tons that is a lot and they would have to work really hard to build that! The Erie is 524 miles long and 517 feet above sea level. The Erie's width on the other had is 40 feet wide. The frist time the Erie Canal was used was 1825 October 26. Where the Erie Canal went
The Eire Canal went many places including New York, Hudson River near Troy, and went on to many other cities in NewYork such as Rome, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo then places near the Great Lakes through New York City. Imagine all these places got resources from one Canal, well apparently you imagined the exact thing that happened.
Fun facts about everything Now I am going to write some fun facts about what I have learned that maybe was in my book but some that I just now learned, I hope you find them really interesting. Here is some fun facts about the Louisiana purchase. Louisisana was bought by Spain than soon after they sold it back to France, france then sold it to the United States. Some people in Louisiana think that Napoleon had no right to sell Louisiana to the United States just because he wanted to hurt his enemy state England. Louisiana price of 15 million would have been $233 million in 2011 because in the time that it was sold things didn't cost much money. Now I will share some fun facts about the Lewis and Clark expedition. There was only one person who died on the expedition and that was Sargent Charles Floyed who died of burst appendix, which is when a part in your body that has poison inside bursts gets your body very sick and ill. Soon after the expidition Lewis became governor of louisisana a few years later after the expedition and Clark became Governor of Missouri territory and the Superintendent of Indian Affaifs.
Conclusion I hope you had fun reading my book. I leard a ton writing this book and I hope you learned something to. One of the chapters I enjoyed writing the most was the Louisiana purchase and the most interesting fact for me is that Lewis became the governor of the Missouri territory. The treacherous journey of the Westward Expantion is a veary important part of our history. This book has been very interesting for me. I hope you are interested too. This took a long and I am exited to publish but also sad that I now do not get to look up any interesting facts and share them with. I hope it was enough for you. Thank you for reading my book.
