Chapter 1 Who did Louisiana belong to a long time ago
The Louisiana terretory used to belong to France the United States bought it for 15,000,000$ then Louisiana became part of the United States It also was 1803 when they bought Louisiana. Louisiana was one of the most important lands the United States bought because it had three rivers that lead to the ocean in that territory .

Chapter 6 Why did they have to buy Louisiana
Thomas Jefferson wanted to have New Orleans to be part of the United States but France sold the whole Louisiana territory for 15,000,000$ so he took it. And then the United States had more land . He he also bought it because the Mississippi river and other rivers where all connected in the Louisiana territory and they wanted to get on rivers that lead straight to the ocean because they can go and sell stuff` in Canada and other places . They also bought it because they would have way more land and the Louisiana territory was about twice the size that the the United States already had . The French wanted to sell the Louisiana territory because they didn't want to go in war with the United States So instead of just having one part of France the French sold the whole Louisiana territory . The Louisiana territory was bought in 1803 and it was only the start of a growing nation and did you know that the state grew more than twice the size than it already was .
