UPDATE ON:
Emergency Medical Service and Fire Service for Twin Creeks and the ETJ As most of you are fully aware, by now, we are no longer being served by the Cedar Park Fire Department for Emergency Medical Service (EMS) or Fire Service. We are within the jurisdictional boundary of Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 14, and as such, our first responder EMS and Fire Service provider is the Volente Fire Department. While the VFD is no longer an all-volunteer fire department, with two fire trucks and three permanent staff firemen, around the clock, the fact still remains that the VFD is 6.8 miles away versus 2.2 miles away for the CPFD. This is of grave concern not only from a homeowner’s insurance stand point, but also a response time concern for EMS and Fire Service. The Twin Creeks, Deer Creek and Bella Vista HOA’s along with Cedar Park Network Action Committee (CPNAN) are working on near term and more permanent solutions to the EMS and Fire Service problem in the ETJ. The near term options include supplementing the ESD 14’s available funds for a Cedar Park contract with additional funding through our Water Control Improvement District, and billed on each homes water bill from the City, like our garbage pickup is currently billed. All the numbers are not in yet, but this more than likely would be in the $10.00 range for each homeowner. It appears possible that this could be worked out and in place before the end of this year. Another near term solution would be an agreement between ESD 14 and ESD 6 that could allow for an auto aid agreement with the City of Austin Fire Department. If this is worked out it would provide first responder EMS and Dire Service from the City of Austin station located on Anderson Mill Road approximately 3.5 miles away. This solution, also, may be worked out and in place before the end of the year. Either of these solutions would provide the ETJ with quicker coverage while a longer term solution (annexation) is worked out by the city of Cedar Park. NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH There’s a suspicious-looking person loitering around your neighbor’s house … a car that you do not recognize has been driving on your street at the same time each day for several days … WHAT DO YOU DO? WHO DO YOU CONTACT? Do you just ignore these incidents and go about your usual routine and then find out later that your neighbor’s house was burglarized … or worse?! Because of similar incidents to those listed above, concerned neighbors realize that the Twin Creeks Community needs an active NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH COMMITTEE. One of our newest residents, Terra Tisdale, and Anne Wilson have begun the process to reactivate this committee which would work with local law enforcement officials to establish and maintain a neighborhood watch group to help keep our community safe and secure. Preliminary planning has begun; however, your suggestions and participation are necessary for the development of a successful NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH COMMITTEE. Volunteers from every neighborhood in our community are needed. Commitment to this committee would take very little time, yet would provide great assurance to your neighbors and yourself. Please contact Terra at terra@tisdale.com or Anne at annecw1@aol.com to offer your assistance. By doing so, you will help Twin Creeks continue to maintain its unique qualities as a country club community and ensure that we have not only a beautiful, but a safe neighborhood for our families.
