News For the Residents of Coles Crossing
Girl Scout Cadette Troop 14173 In late September, Girl Scout Cadette Troop 14173 prepared and served lunch for 75 volunteers and families at a Habitat for Humanity build site in the Champions area. (Through volunteer labor and donations of material and money, Habitat for Humanity builds and restores homes for families in need. Habitat has helped build more than 400,000 homes, serving 2 million people around the world.) Habitat events typically attract adult volunteers, so these 6th graders from Spillane Middle School were particularly happy to participate and see the results of their efforts. They plan to volunteer again in the spring. The girls also participated in the dedication of three new Habitat homes. Girl Scouting strives to build girls of courage, confidence and character. These girls, of the Compass Rose Service Unit, have shown that they are indeed making the world a better place. For more information about Girl Scouts, contact LaceyC@entouch.net.
