Meyer Park Losing Trees Meyer Park Losing an estimated 1700 trees. This past summer’s drought and heat was devastating to oak trees and loblolly pine trees. The National Weather Service says 2011 was Texas’ driest year on record as well as its second hottest. The current drought started in fall 2010. Forecasters say it is expected to drag on at least through June. Tree removal crews have begun to cut down an estimated 1,755 dead trees in the 180-acre Meyer Park, Spring, Texas.
