Lakemont Living Introduction ENJOY MEMORIAL DAY FOR ITS MEANING! As you plan family BBQs or get-togethers with friends don’t forget that Memorial Day is not just an extra day off from work. It’s the day that we remember those who have died in our nation’s service. So between the grilling and good times this May 28th please take a moment to honor our military past and present for their great sacrifice for our freedom. You do not need to register for this year’s Community Yard Sale since Purple Heart will not be scheduled to pick-up any items. All residents who plan to participate are responsible for putting up and taking down their own advertising signs around Lakemont. Signs can be placed as early as Friday afternoon on 5/18 and have to be removed no later than Sunday, 5/20 by 5:00pm. Community banners will be placed at each entrance to advertise the event. The Center for Cultural Interchange is looking for volunteer hosts of foreign students for the fall school year. These students need a caring and safe environment to stay while attending school. They come from over 60 countries and are high school aged, have their own spending money, and are fully insured. Hosts are required to provide a bed and meals in their home. How to take better outdoor photos Are your outdoor pictures too bright? Or maybe all of the photos of your kids are blurry? Here are a few tips that should help improve the quality of your pictures. Location Choose a location that is not busy and bustling with activity. A quiet area will allow kids to be more focused, and allow them to be able to listen to your posing instructions without distractions or loud noises that would otherwise interfere. Focus on Lighting Novice photographers tend to think bright, direct sunlight is best for taking natural photos. On the contrary, strong sunlight is “hard” lighting.
