Have a question about the community or surrounding area? Ever wonder about new development or want opinions on good restaurants or entertainment venues in the area? Send your questions to lakemontliving@yahoo.com and I’ll do my best to find out the answers! A SUMMER STAPLE IN TEXAS, BBQ HAS BECOME A PRETTY COVETED COMMODITY.

Q: Are there any good BBQ restaurants in our area? A: Ok, I have to admit my bias will sway my opinion a little. I’m a huge Rudy’s Bar-B-Que fan (the sauce is the key) and my husband and I cannot wait for the new Katy location to open at I-10 and Mason Road next to the Dodge dealership. We’ve been watching the progress (or non-progress) for months now and are glad to see that our wait will soon be over. There are other good BBQ restaurants as well. Spring Creek BBQ, another popular chain, offers a good variety of tasty BBQ, sides and dessert plus a friendly wait staff. Big Daddy’s BBQ, my second favorite and a weekend staple in my house, has slow cooked meat and sides for a reasonable price. The fairly new Red River BBQ on Mason Road seems to have a good following so far; I have personally only eaten there once and don’t remember being all that impressed but my suggestion would be to try it out for yourself. Happy eating! Make sure you have an extra roll of paper towels; you’ll need it eating BBQ!!
