We hope that everyone is enjoying their summer and taking advantage of the pool and park areas. Due to some recent inquiries and issues reported to the HOA and Alliance, we feel that now is a good time to offer some important reminders: There is absolutely no alcohol or tobacco use permitted in the pool, tennis court area, basketball courts, or any other park property. Due to the likelihood of continued dry weather, there is an increased risk of fire as well as the continual risk of property damage due to lit cigarettes being tossed out by careless users. To ensure the safety of all residents, the security officers have been instructed to review the contents of any ice chests, thermal bags, etc., to make sure that the alcohol ban is enforced. Failure to abide by the no alcohol/tobacco policy is grounds for being asked to leave the pool area. Any residents (and/or guests) who are argumentative or abusive are subject to removal by the security officer on duty (or Williamson County Sheriff’s Office). The HOA has asked that Security report these types of incidents to HOA management. The security officer on duty at the pool has been instructed to not allow people into the pool if they do not have a working pool key. Even if you regularly visit the pool and are known to the officer(s), they have been instructed to require all residents to have their own key to access the pool. The officers are not able to assist if your pool key is not working. Please contact Alliance Association Management at 347-2888 for all questions about your pool key. The restrooms at the pool are cleaned at least two times (Continued on Page 6)
Gas Grill Safety Tips Liquid petroleum (LP) gas or propane, used in gas grills, is highly flammable. Each year between 30 and 40 people are injured as a result of gas grill fires and explosions. Many of these fires and explosions occur when consumers first use a grill that has been left idle for a period of time or just after refilling and reattaching the grill’s gas container. To reduce the risk of fire or explosion, consumers should routinely perform the following safety checks: • Check the tubes that lead into the burner for any blockage from insects, spiders, or food grease. Use a pipe cleaner or wire to clear blockage and push it through to the main part of the burner. • Check grill hoses before each use for cracking, brittleness, holes, and leaks. Make sure there are no sharp bends in the hose or tubing. • Move gas hoses as far away as possible from hot surfaces and dripping hot grease. If you can’t move the hoses, install a heat shield to protect them. • Replace scratched or nicked connectors, which can eventually leak gas. • Check for gas leaks, following the manufacturer’s instructions, if you smell gas or when you reconnect the grill to the LP gas container. If you detect a leak, immediately turn off the gas and don’t attempt to light the grill until the leak is fixed. • Keep lighted cigarettes, matches, or open flames away from any grill. • Never use a grill indoors. Use the grill at least 10 feet away from your house or any building. Do not use the grill in a garage, breezeway, carport, porch, or under a surface that can catch fire. • Do not attempt to repair the tank valve or the appliance yourself. See an LP gas dealer or a qualified appliance repair person. • Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions that accompany the grill. • Use caution when storing LP gas containers. Always keep containers upright. Never store a spare gas container under or near the grill or indoors. Never store or use flammable liquids, like gasoline, near the grill. The Meadows at Chandler Creek MUD News By Kristi Hester, MUD General Manager
On July 13th at 7:00 pm, the Meadows at Chandler Creek MUD will hold a raffle for any coaches who are interested in reserving the fields for team use. The raffle will be held at the pavilion in the park. The Board is pleased announce that they have approved adding 14 new trail lights to the area by the school this will allow for added security for the students and joggers. Happy trails to all! SPORTS FIELD RESERVATION USE POLICY • Mandatory pre season meeting with all the coaches • At the pre season meeting, coaches will draw numbers randomly (Raffle) to determine order depending on if priority team or non priority team. • Priority as to picking days of play will be given to teams with 50% of the players who are residents. If more than one priority team attends pre season meeting, those teams draw numbers to determine which team has first choice. After priority team(s) have picked days of play, non priority teams will have the next choice based on number drawn during Raffle. After order is determined by Raffle, team who drew number one gets to pick first field reservation, followed by team who drew number two, three, four, etc (Round 1). After Round 1, teams follow in same order for Round 2.. • Teams can choose 2 practice times a week max. • Practice days are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday is a field rest day. The fields are open Saturday and Sunday on a first come first serve basis. • Practice times available each practice day is from 4-6 or 6 to sunset. • Play not allowed when fields not usable (i.e. soggy) • Resident reservations will no longer be allowed for fields. Outside of this system, field use will be first come first serve. • This policy does not apply to Pavilion reservations which continue under current system.

Really Great Chocolate Chip Cookies
You know, there is just something about a nice cookie with a cold glass of milk or lemonade or at night with a warm cup of tea, coffee, or cocoa. These chocolate chip cookies are fairly easy to make, travel and ship well, and unless you too have a cookie monster in your house, will last easily a few days! Kiddos love to help in the kitchen and most of these ingredients you will likely have on hand in your pantry. INGREDIENTS 1 cup butter, softened 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup white sugar 2 teaspoons hot water 1 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 eggs 2 cups semisweet chocolate 2 teaspoons vanilla extract chips 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 cup chopped walnuts DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned. ALTERNATE IDEAS: I have been known to use oatmeal (finely ground) in place of about a third to half of the flour. Pecans work in these if you don’t have walnuts, and this recipe can also be spread into a pan and cut into bars.

Unless the restroom(s) need to be closed due to untidy conditions, please report all concerns to Alliance. There are plenty of trash cans around the pool area, so make sure that you throw all trash, especially food and drink waste away to help keep bugs and other pests away from the pool area. Make sure that all trash in the restrooms is thrown away in the trash cans provided. Any children who are not toilet trained are to be in a swim diaper at all times. The pool has already had to be closed this season for special cleaning due to fecal contamination. Parents who fail to have their child(ren) in swim diapers could be assessed the costs to have the pool cleaned if their child(ren) is/are responsible. Please report any type of contamination to the officer on duty so he/she can clear the pool and notify Alliance. If you or your child has been ill with a diarrheal or intestinal illness, please do not use the pool until at least 24 hours have passed from when you or your child were last ill. All residents are to be in appropriate swim attire. This means no cutoffs (denim), street clothes, etc. You will be asked to change into proper swim attire.
If there are any concerns about the security officers, please bring those concerns to the attention of Alliance. All concerns of this type are forwarded to the HOA’s Executive Committee for review. The HOA’s Facebook page is a means for the HOA to communicate important information to HOA residents. The Facebook page is not monitored by Alliance and as a result, it is not the proper venue to report concerns, complaints, etc. Those need to be done by contacting Alliance directly. The park is open from 5:00 am until 11:00 pm. Towing of vehicles is enforced between the hours of 11:00 pm and 5:00 am. If you see anything suspicious or notice anything at the pool or tennis courts that needs attention, please contact Alliance Association Management at 347-2888. If it is after hours, their answering service will take the call. While these reminders may be nitpicky to some, we want to ensure that all of our residents have an enjoyable time while they are at the pool. Please be mindful of others while you are at the pool and make sure you act in a manner that you’d want others to act so as not to spoil your fun or someone else’s. Chandler Creek Gas Grill Safety Tips (Continued from Cover Page) secure, upright position. Never keep a filled container in a hot car or car trunk. Heat will cause the gas pressure to increase, which may open the relief valve and allow gas to escape. Use extreme caution and always follow manufacturer’s instructions when connecting or disconnecting LP gas containers. Grills manufactured after October 1, 1995, are required to have three additional safety features to eliminate leak hazards: a device to limit the flow of gas in the event of hose rupture; a mechanism to shut-off the grill; and a feature to prevent the flow of gas if the connection between the tank and the grill is not leak proof. CHARCOAL GRILL SAFETY TIPS Charcoal produces carbon monoxide (CO) when it is burned. CO is a colorless, odorless gas that can accumulate to toxic levels in closed environments. Each year about 30 people die and 100 are injured as a result of CO fumes from charcoal grills and hibachis used inside. To reduce the risk of CO poisoning, follow these safety tips: Never burn charcoal inside homes, vehicles, tents, or campers. Charcoal should never be used indoors, even with ventilation. Since charcoal produces CO fumes until the charcoal is completely extinguished, do not store the grill indoors with freshly used coals.
Covenant Violation Data MAY 2012 The property manager for the Chandler Creek HOA performs property inspections twice a month. During these inspections, any covenant violations observed are noted and a violation notice is sent to the homeowner. The property manager also takes pictures of the violations, which can be sent to the homeowner upon request.
