NEWS FOR THE RESIDENTS OF COPPERFIELD July 2012
Volume 4, Issue 7
Copperfield Coalition A Non-Profit Incorporated Organization Stop the Speeding & Running of Stop Signs for a Better, Safer Neighborhood The speeding and running of stops signs throughout our area has become increasingly worse over the years. At this point there are quite a few drivers out there who believe stop signs do not apply to them nor do speed limit signs. This problem is seriously out of control. According to Sgt. Breaux, most of the speeding and stop sign running is done by the residents who live in their particular neighborhood. Is this how we want to treat each other - a total disregard for the safety for our neighbors? Life is precious and now that it is summer there are lot more children playing outdoors all day. Do you really want to go to jail for murdering a child by running a stop sign or flying 40 mph down a street and squeezing between two parked cars? You can’t see through a park car. You can’t see if there is a child on the other side getting ready to chase a ball. Slow down! The speed limit is 30 mph, not 31, not 32, and most definitely not 60 mph! As of June 12, we have closed the Speeding and Running of Stop Signs poll. We have tabulated and studied this information; please view our website for the results. We are currently working with the Sheriff’s Department to develop a strategy to combat the ongoing and growing problem of speeding and running of stop signs. We will be meeting with the Sheriff’s Department and once we have a baseline set, we will have a Town Hall Meeting for all residents in the area to voice their concerns, provide suggestions, and ask questions. We will use all the information that we gather from the Town Hall Meeting to finalize the strategy. The date of the Town Hall Meeting will be forthcoming. Copyright © 2012 Peel, Inc.
Low Income Housing Meeting You remember the Town Hall Meeting we just had for Low Income Housing? We had roughly 500 people show up to protect their property values and their way of life. We are now planning to have a Town Hall Meeting much more important – safety of human life. There will be a Town Hall Meeting planned in the next few months. We urge you to attend. We should have a showing of much more than 500. We will let you know as soon as the date has been finalized.
