As in the past, the PTO will be looking for not just a few, but “many good women and men” to volunteer for the various fundraisers, events, etc. for the school year. You do not have to have a child or grandchild enrolled in Gleason (or CFISD); however, if you don’t, you must qualify through the Partners in Education (PIE) office to be a “Global Volunteer”. They can be contacted at: (281) 894-3950. If you’re retired and/or just have some free time on your hands, please consider volunteering. YOU are WANTED and NEEDED!!! Fireworks on The Schoolyard Did you know….Texas law prohibits discharge of fireworks on school district property at any time? Citizens can report violations to CFISD security dispatcher @ (281) 897-4337 and to the Harris Co. Pct. 4 Constables Office @ (281) 376-3472.

WillowTalk A Parking Plea

Dear neighbors,

I am your neighbor and a resident of our Willowbridge / Stonebridge subdivision and really enjoy living in our community. I would like to share with you a frustration that I experience almost daily. My hope is that by sharing with the community my frustration, perhaps it will encourage understanding and a change in parking habits by some of our residents. Many articles have been printed in our newsletter about the appropriate guidelines for street parking. One thing that has not been written about is the practice of repeatedly parking in front of a neighbor’s house rather than one’s own. Although this is not illegal, I believe it is inconsiderate for one to do so. Please understand, I have no objections with my neighbors parking in front of my home on occasion when they host a party or other overflow situation, but my neighbor uses the front of my home as their personal parking place. I have tried parking my vehicles in front of my house, which I do not like to do, in hopes of discouraging others from parking there. The hint was not successful. I have had problems with trash pick-up and recently had problems when a contractor working in my home who could not park in front of my home due to the neighbor’s vehicle parked there. It was very inconvenient for the contractor who needed to travel to and from his

vehicle numerous times throughout the repair. I attempted to ask the neighbor to move the vehicle, but there was no one home to move it. When I occasionally have guests, they feel unwelcome to use my front door because of the cars parked in front of my house. My guests often end up parking in front of my other neighbor’s house and carrying their loads, food and other items, to my home. This issue is actually becoming a grievance with not only me, but with my visitors who cannot park closer to my home. Additionally, I take pride in the appearance of my home and landscape. I think it adds to the appeal of our neighborhood. Why should I bother trying to maintain my home and keep it looking nice if the only thing passersby see is a car in front of my home. I realize that there are no laws being broken, but laws should not always be needed to promote understanding and consideration. If you park in front of someone’s home, please consider your neighbors’ feelings. Would you want your neighbor to always park in front of your home?
