Neighbor Spotlight The communications committee would like to highlight the contribution of one of our neighbors to an important cause. In 2010 this member of our community made the commitment to collect diapers at the Sports Park from September 10th to 14th and distribute them to various charities. This year she hopes to continue in the spirit of helping others. A member of the communications committee asked her some questions. Thank You, Kellie.
outgrow a size but still have a few left over. We can accept those! Just put them in a ziploc baggie and label the outside with the size. Everything helps! We also have a need for wipes and diaper cream. **All donations can be put in the large bins (with the Diaper Bank logo) outside the main pool/sports park from September 10th14th.**
Please describe how long you been involved with the organization sponsoring the diaper drive?
4. My husband, two little boys, and I have happily lived here since October 1, 2010.
1. The organization HRPCH (hrpch.org) is a little over a year old. HRPCH’s Diaper Bank is the only Diaper Bank in Bexar County and the only recognized Diaper Bank in the State of Texas. I found them this year (about a month ago) while researching the resources available to families who struggle to afford enough diapers for their little ones. Who does the diaper drive benefit? 2. The Diaper Drive collection will replenish the hrpch stores. Since 2011, the Diaper Bank has distributed packages of diaper to over 3,000 children (March 2011-July 2012) and continues to see increases in those requesting assistance every day. Because of this, the Diaper Bank is in need of not only diapers, but wipes, formula, baby food, and new and gently used toys, baby clothes, and maternity clothes. How can the Wildhorse Community help? 3. Wildhorse is such a diverse and active community! With so many homes and so many generous families, a little will go a long way! The main need is diapers! Did you know that a baby can go through 8-10 diapers a day! There are several ways that we can accept diaper donations. ANY size in the big boxes, the sealed plastic sleeves or loose in a ziploc baggie. As a mom, my little one will often

WILDHORSE Open Board Meeting The Wildhorse Board will hold its open board meeting for the 3rd quarter, Wednesday, September 26th at 7pm. The meeting is available to all homeowners to attend and will be held at Krueger Elementary. This change was needed to better accommodate the varying schedules of members of the board. Please know that the board can be reached anytime at board@wildhorsecommunity.com. Please come out and see your representatives in action. To ensure an orderly meeting, the board has developed standing rules which all in attendance are required to follow. Please review the following rules prior to attending the meeting. STANDING RULES FOR A REGULAR/SPECIAL MEETINGS The Board believes it can best serve the community if all Board meetings are conducted in an orderly manner, and requests your full and complete cooperation in this regard. It is important for Board members to hear from members who have information regarding the community. Here are standing rules presumed a requirement of all in assembly at the meeting. 1. If homeowners wish to address the board prior to the start of the meeting, they must sign in with their name, address, email address (if available), and topic to be discussed. 2. Any member wishing to address the board shall speak no longer than three (3) minutes per lot. No member may speak more than twice on any one subject, and no more than three (3) minutes each time, and must be recognized by the chair prior to speaking. 3. All remarks must be directed to the Board. Remarks must be courteous in language and expression. At no time shall a speaker allude to others by name, address, or to motives. 4. The audience will not be permitted to interrupt nor question any speaker. 5. After the speaker has finished addressing the Board, the Chair will recognize the next person to speak. 6. Members in the audience will refrain from engaging in conversation among themselves or otherwise disrupting the meeting. (Private conversations among members in the audience are distracting to the conduct of the meeting. If members of the assembly wish to carry on a conversation with one another, then they must move away from the meeting area). 7. In case of a serious disorder or other great emergency, the chair has the right to declare the assembly adjourned to some other time (and place if necessary), if it is impracticable to take a vote, or in their opinion, dangerous to delay for a vote. 8. The Board of Directors reserves the right to comment on any concerns that are presented either at the meeting or through other forms of communication at a later date.

WILDHORSE Resident Commentary: Fellow Wildhorse Residents, This is my first attempt at journalism as well as volunteerism for this community; however I am no stranger to volunteering. I look forward to the newsletter every month as well as updates from residents on the community to find out what’s new, what’s going on and what’s coming up. From what I can see some of our committees are understaffed, but there seems to be some confusion about the committees, current members, available positions and events/achievements/ goals. Since our newsletter this past month contained nothing about neighborhood, I thought maybe we could fill it with some neighborhood news. My goal is to first, discuss the committees in general including current members and available positions; second, highlight a different committee each month to discuss the above mentioned points in further detail. I have emailed all committees listed on the Wildhorse webpage as well as the Board and Lisa James to make all aware of the upcoming articles. I hope you all are looking forward to what the committees have to offer and may even be inspired to volunteer. If anybody wishes to contribute to the articles/discussion or wants to know something additional about a specific committee, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
The community has benefited from social media over the past two years allowing residents to communicate with their neighbors in the community. Much good has come from this group. As the Facebook membership grew to 400 residents, moderating the group became increasingly difficult for a committee with dwindling numbers. Because of the difficulty moderating such a large group, members of the group have observed the group conversation had changed in tone. The board has decided to discontinue the HOA’s official participation in this group believing that the group no longer represented the values of the community or the original intent of the group to facilitate communication. We apologize to those negatively impacted by this decision. As other avenues for social media exist for unofficial communication, the Board believes that it is not in the best interest of the association to continue our official support for this group.

Selling Your House
(Before Your Neighbors Sell Theirs)
Price aggressively.
This tops the list for good reason. With few buyers chasing many homes, you need to quickly get the attention of those who are serious about buying. If your home is priced too high, you many never get buyers to even look at your home.
Cut the price
If you don’t get action quickly, cut the price. Homes that languish on the market are forced to make one price reduction after another. Buyers will question why the home has been on the market for so long.
Curb appeal.
Take a walk down your street with a critical eye. How does your home stack up from the outside? If it doesn’t stand out from the rest then it’s time to get to work.
Fix stuff.
The loose railing. The broken pane of glass. The leaky faucet. They all need fixing. Also consider replacing the antique furnace, and the stained rug. With so many homes on the market, buyers can afford to only bid on those that are in move-in condition. Fix what needs repair before listing your house.
Be flexible.
You’d like to close in two months, but the buyers needs to close sooner. Find a way to make it happen. You want to take the appliances to your new home, but the buyers make a strong offer… including the appliances. Leave the washer and dryer behind. Competition between home sellers is high – don’t lose the only buyer who has looked at your home in a month.
