WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS
Yard of the Month NOVEMBER 2012
Congratulations to Tim and Laschel McCoy at 15822 Conners Ace Drive! The November Yard of the Month is awarded to the McCoy’s in the Estate Section. Many of their gardens are awash with color from Victoria Blue and white Salvia, peppermint, raspberry and pink Vinca, purple Ruellia, blue Plumbago and purple and rose Pentas. Their landscape design is balanced with Queen, Mexican Fan, Date and Sago Palms, well-manicured shrubbery and perennials. Bubbling fountains provide a soothing welcome as you approach the McCoy’s seasonally-decorated front door. As appreciation for their efforts, Tim and Laschel will receive a $50.00 gift certificate from Plants For All Seasons and their address highlighted as Yard of the Month on the marquee on Cypresswood Dr.
Reminder for the Holidays REMINDER!!! SPECIAL YARD OF THE MONTH CRITERIA FOR DECEMBER
We will again incorporate holiday decorations into the criteria for choosing Yard of the Month (YOM) in December. It is a little complicated since we choose the YOM for December at the beginning of November in order to meet the deadline for the December newsletter. We are going to choose the Holiday YOM between the 4thand the 7th of December and it will actually be highlighted in the January newsletter as that month’s YOM. We will rename January to Holiday YOM in the newsletter. If you want to participate, please have your decorations up by the 4th of December. In addition, the home should have a well-manicured yard with some seasonal color and no deed restriction violations. The decorations will carry a third of the points. If you have been waiting for that push to get out there and really decorate for the holidays, this is it as the winner will receive the $50.00 gift certificate from Plants For All Seasons, have your home featured in the newsletter and on the marquee on Cypresswood Drive. Don’t forget as you are buying those seasonal colors at Plants For All Seasons to thank them for sponsoring our YOM. Let’s light the neighborhood this December!! Be creative!! Merry Decorating, Wimbledon Champions YOM Committee-Gayle Jennings and Doris Edmonds

WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONS Fallen Warriors Memorial The National Memorial Ladies proudly announce the ‘Fallen Warriors Memorial’ is currently under construction in CyChamp Park (Cutten Road and Cypresswood Drive). This project will provide a permanent site for the community to honor and remember our loved ones outside of the cemetery. The Fallen Heroes to be commemorated include those from the Harris County and surrounding counties who died while serving in ‘Operation Iraqi Freedom’, ‘Operation Enduring Freedom’ and ‘Operation New Dawn’. We have put forth great effort in designing this project and invite the community to participate in its completion. The land for the site has been approved and donated by the Cy-Champ Public Utility District Board. Through further donations we hope to realize the Fallen Warriors Memorial by the spring of 2012. All donations are tax deductible. National Memorial Ladies is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. To raise funds for the KIA monument, a Patriotic concert will be held Sunday, November 11, 2012 at John Wesley United
Methodist Church (in Champions), 3 PM. Featured will be Yeager Elementary Honor Choir, Greenwood Elementary School Chorus, Klein Forest High School Band, and the JWUMC Chancel Choir. Donation options are available on-line at www.kiamonument.org. Checks payable to ‘National Memorial Ladies’ may be mailed to: National Memorial Ladies 11803 Grant Rd. Suite 108 Cypress, TX 77429. For questions, contact Cheryl Whitfield at: 832-868-9810 ctw.whitfield@comcast.net Respectfully submitted by Beth Ellis, 832.722.6004 (JWUMC)
