Message from the new PHNA Board Dear Neighbors, The recently elected PHNA Board would like to take this opportunity to introduce itself, update you on recent events, and outline some its goals for the upcoming year. As you are reading this please remember that this is your Association, and thus if you find an important personal issue missing or have any questions, you are always encouraged to contact any of your Board Members. The PHNA conducted a Board meeting and “Town Hall” on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at the Senior Activity Center. The meeting was very well attended by members of the PHNA, and the Board elected Officers and Committee Chairs. Craig Duewall was elected Vice President, Corey Breed was elected Treasurer, Carla Hatler was elected Secretary, and Diane Umstead was elected Member at Large. The Committee Chairs were elected as follows: City of Austin Committee: Diane Umstead; Traffic, Sidewalks, MoPac: Diane Umstead; Finance: Corey Breed; Administration: Carla Hatler; Social: Carla Hatler; Communications: Carla Hatler, Co-Chair: Corey Breed; and Special Projects: Craig Duewall. You are encouraged to participate in any Committees wherein you have interest. On February 5th the Board regretfully accepted Jeff Minch’s resignation as the President of the PHNA. Jeff was also serving as the Security Chair and Corey Breed has agreed to Chair the Security Committee following Jeff’s resignation. The PHNA Security Patrol continues to patrol our neighborhood, residents are still able to utilize the Home-Away List via the PHNA webpage, and anyone who has donated to the PHNA Security Program can rest assured that the
program will continue. The PHNA will also continue to solicit donations for the Security Program and maintaining the Security Program is one of the Board’s top priorities. Following Jeff Minch’s resignation as President, the PHNA Board quickly conducted an executive meeting on Sunday, February 10, 2013. Jeff has been very helpful during the Board’s transition. The Board is grateful for Jeff’s service and will undoubtedly continue to rely upon his institutional knowledge and experience. Jeff’s resignation raises two immediate issues (1) naming a new President and (2) filling the vacant Board position. The PHNA Bylaws generally provide that the Vice President shall become the President when the President resigns, and the Board has approximately 60 days to appoint a new Board member. During its meeting on February 10th, the Board unanimously agreed that Craig Duewall would become the President, Diane Umstead would become the Vice President, and the Board would solicit names of interested individuals who would like to be considered for appointment to the vacant Board position. This unanimous Board action still must be ratified at the Board’s next meeting. If you are interested in being considered for the vacant Board position, please communicate your interest to PHNA Board Secretary, Carla Hatler. Speaking of Board meetings, the Board is committed to conducting regularly scheduled Board Meetings and members are always encouraged to attend. The next Board meeting is Tuesday, March 26, 2013.
