The summer season is right around the corner and many of us will be traveling in and out of town. Let’s keep an eye out for our traveling neighbors and each other. Summer is a time for fun and entertainment, but let’s be mindful of the Bexar County curfew laws: Curfew: Unlawful hours: Minors: 17 years of age and under Sunday- Thursday; 10:30pm-6am Friday & Saturday: midnight -6am Monday- Friday: 9am-2:30pm We’ll see you at the meeting. -Daniel Garcia
Farewell Jennifer and Gerry! At the annual meeting of the membership on March 27th, we welcomed new members to the Board of Directors. At the same time, it was time to bid farewell to two of our previous board members. Both Jennifer and Gerry were appointed to the board and completed the terms of elected board members. Gerry served as member of the board for 9 months and Jennifer served for 6 months. Their time on the board help the association among other things to add new flowers to the front entrance, select a new landscaper, oversee repairs of the walking trail, and began the ground work for an irrigation overhaul. The board would like to thank Jennifer and Gerry for their service and wish them well in their future endeavors.

WILDHORSE Green Men Spotted in Wildhorse Recently there have been some questions regarding the use of “slow down” signs or other traffic control devices in the streets of Bexar County, and specifically the Wildhorse neighborhood. We have contacted the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) in an effort to help address some of these questions. Q: Can I place a sign or obstruction anywhere in the street in order to regulate a motor vehicle’s behavior? A: The short answer is no. Traffic control devices may only be implemented and/or installed by the Bexar County Sheriff, Bexar County Public works, and/or official emergency personnel. Anyone wanting to place such a device in Bexar County public roads must first request permission. This includes but is not limited to; block party barriers, cul-de-sac barriers, and the devices commonly referred to as “little green men.” Q: Can I place traffic control devices on the grass strip in front of my house, beside the curb, or on my lawn? A: It is allowable to place such a device in your yard, but it cannot be displayed in such a fashion that it is considered a traffic control device. It is not allowable to place them in the street next to your curb. Additionally, the Wildhorse HOA by-laws state that no signs are allowed in your front yard with the exception of a real estate sign if your home is for sale. Q: What can be done to reduce speeders and unsafe drivers on my street? A: As with any incident that occurs on public roads owned and maintained by Bexar County, the BCSO should be contacted. They do want to hear from you, as it helps them establish precedent for establishing laws and controls for our public streets. Please help them do their job, and do not take it upon yourself to regulate traffic on our streets. The BCSO non-emergency number is 210-335-6000.
Community Clean Up Day a Success The Recreation and Public Works Committee would like to thank all of the individuals, couples and families that attended the recent community clean- up day at the Sports Park. We estimate that there were over 50 volunteers on hand to help. With so many wonderful volunteers we were able to cover a large amount of our community in a short amount of time while beautifying our community, meeting some new neighbors and enjoying each other’s company over pizza. Again, we thank all of those who participated and encourage others to join us in our next endeavor.
Make an impact. 4
