Erin Baker's Project

Little Free Library

Cancer Support Group Meeting Erin Baker is a Cadette Girl Scout and a resident of Southdown Village. Erin is working to earn her Silver Award, which is the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can achieve. The project she has chosen is to establish a “Little Free Library” in our neighborhood. In case you have not heard of the Little Free Library, it’s purpose is to promote literacy and the love of reading and build a sense of community as neighbors share skills, creativity and wisdom through reading. The idea is simple “Take a Book, Give a Book”. The library will initially be set up with books that Erin has received from donations. The idea is that it will catch on and neighbors will begin taking books and replacing them with books of their own. It becomes a neighborhood book exchange. You can take a book and keep it, or simply return it when you have completed it so others can enjoy it. The library is currently under construction and will be showing up at the Southdown Pool in August so keep an eye out for it.
