A special “THANK YOU” to Curt Randa (Cedar Park Recreation & Park Director & Twin Creek resident) for installing two new signs in the Park (at the first roundabout between Dervingham Drive and Izoro Bend). The new signs are the typical and normal signs that the City Cedar Park posts in all of their parks. The information on the signs state what our park hours are here in Twin Creeks. The Park hours are from dawn to 10:00 p.m. Now that we have signs posted, if you see people congregating in the park after hours you are well within the law to call the sheriff’s office and put in a request for them to drive to the park and ask the group to leave. We would encourage all residents to join in this effort if you see people there after the 10:00 p.m. curfew. HELPFUL TIDBITS AND INFORMATION TO ALL RESIDENTS

Simply call the number & let them know you are going to be away from your home, give them the dates, your street address, let them know if ANY cars should be expected to be in the driveway, if you are leaving on lights, if you have outside dogs, etc. They will patrol your home at various times during the period of time you are away. Additionally there is a six digit number that is about 4 - 5 foot high posted on the very front of every light pole. Taking the time to capture this number and send it along with the street name is extremely helpful for workers to identify exactly which light needs to be replaced, since all bulbs are replaced during the day time. Once you’ve signed on, look for “service request” then “street light repair” and input the six digit number. SpotCrimes.com – This website allows you to put in your zip code and set the mile radius you would like to receive updates from the sheriff’s office concerning crimes happening in and around your neighborhood. If a crime has been reported, it will show up on SpotCrime.com typically within 24 – 48 hours. TWIN CREEKS TRIBUNE ANNEXATION HALTED FOR 2013 The annexation is off for 2013 and may happen in December 2014, provided that Williamson-Travis WCID 1G and 1F (Twin Creeks) and Bella Vista MUD (the Districts) can work out the financial aspects of the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) with the City of Cedar Park. As most of you know by now, the City of Cedar Park City Council voted to discontinue the process of the Limited Purpose Annexation for the two Water Districts in Twin Creeks and Bella Vista MUD. While we are all disappointed that the annexation did not occur this year, we should all encourage the City and the Board of Directors for WCID 1G and WCID 1F to work diligently to reach an agreement for the SPA terms as quickly as possible. Once the SPA is finalized, we can then move forward with another petition drive and ultimately reach the goal of the Limited Purpose Annexation by the end of 2014. If you have any questions regarding WCID 1G, James Manning has offered up his email to respond. jamesmanning@sbcglobal.net There have been a lot of rumors flying around regarding tax rates for WCID 1G, as well as the ESD. I, for one, started some of these with the posting on the social media site last week after the City council meeting. That information was based on what I had been told by various individuals and I have since come to know that some of that posting was unfounded and simply not the true facts. Therefore, I would like to retract all references to any proposed/future tax rates of WCID 1G as well as the ESD. None of these are set in stone yet and until they are I will not speculate on the tax issue until rates are set or information disseminated by these two taxing entities. I offer my sincere apologies to the WCID 1G Board of Directors, the City, the ESD and most of all the Twin Creeks Residents for my hasty action. Twin Creeks Country Club
Celebrates 10th Anniversary
Twin Creeks Country Club is celebrating their 10th Anniversary, an exciting milestone for one of Austin’s Premier Private Clubs. Twin Creeks’ golf course was one of the first signature courses to be designed by Fred Couples. In recognition of this milestone, Twin Creeks will be hosting several events for their members, culminating in a Black Tie New Year’s Eve 10 Year Celebration, to be held on December 31, 2013. The event will include live music, cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres with a balloon drop and champagne toast at midnight. “It’s exciting, at the least, to be a part of Twin Creeks Country Club’s 10-year anniversary celebration. It is rare to step onto a golf course knowing that you will leave with a positive experience, but that is exactly what you get when you play Twin Creeks,” stated Kyle O’Brien, PGA Head Golf Professional at Twin Creeks. “The Hill Country views and variety of wildlife that reside on our property are breathtaking from the time you set foot on the course. Add that to one of the most well manicured courses in the Austin area and you see what I mean. I can’t wait to see what the next 10-years have in store,” O’Brien stated. Twin Creeks Country Club opened in May of 2003, with a Grand Opening Celebration on November 10, 2003. An historic landmark, the John M. King log house, is also located on Twin Creeks’ property. The log house is a small one-and-one-half building that is estimated to have been built in the mid-1800s. King, a farmer from Alabama, and his family occupied the home until 1917. A local politician, Jack Dies, later purchased it in 1937. Dies was said to have entertained many dignitaries at the log house “in lavish style” throughout the years. TWIN CREEKS TRIBUNE GOOD NEIGHBORS CAN BE GREAT FOR STRESS LEVELS
Do you live in a neighborhood where you feel safe and connected to others, or do you feel overcrowded, threatened, and otherwise unsafe in your surroundings? This, and other aspects of neighborhood life, can impact both your level of happiness and stress. Socializing: With our busy schedules, we don’t always see friends as often as we’d like. For a bit of socializing that takes only minutes out of your day, it’s nice to stop and chat with people for a few minutes on your way out to your car. And the more people you have available for shared social support, the better, generally speaking. Pooled Resources: I know people in some more-friendly neighborhoods who share dinners, minimizing the effort it takes to cook. Others trade fruit from their trees. A neighbor who borrows a few eggs may come back with a plate of cookies that the eggs helped create. Knowing your neighbors increases everyone’s ability to share. Security: Knowing the people around you can bring a sense of security. If you need something--whether it’s a cup of sugar when you’re baking cookies, or someone to call the police if they see someone lurking ourside your home--it’s nice to know you can depend on those around you and they can depend on you. Home Pride: Knowing the people who live around you provides a strengthened sense of pride in your home and neighborhood.
Coming home just feels nicer. While you may not be able to change the neighborhood in which you live, you can change the experience you have in your own neighborhood by getting more involved with those around you and taking pride in the area in which you live. The following are some ideas and resources that can help you to feel more at home in your neighborhood: Get Out More: If you live in a generally safe area, I highly recommend taking a morning or evening walk. It’s a great stress reliever that also allows you to get to know many of your neighbors, get an understanding of who lives where, and feel more at home in your surroundings. Smile: It’s simple enough, but if you’re not in the habit of smiling and giving a friendly hello to the people you encounter in your neighborhood, it’s a good habit to start. While not everyone will return the friendliness immediately, it’s a quick way to get to know people and build relationships, even if you’ve lived close for years and haven’t really said much to one another. Talk To Your Elders: The more veteran members of the neighborhood often have the inside scoop on the neighborhood. You may be surprised at how much you can learn if you stop to take the time to talk to the sweet old lady at the end of the block.

Lifting and carrying a child, picking up toys off of the floor, and pushing a stroller are normal daily tasks for many parents. Below are some quick tips to avoid overstraining your spine and other body areas. LIFTING YOUR CHILD FROM THE FLOOR When picking your child up off the floor, you should use a half-kneel lift. First, stand close to your child on the floor. While keeping your back straight, place one foot slightly forward of the other foot, and bend your hips and knees to lower yourself onto one knee. Once down on the floor, grasp your child with both arms and hold him or her close to your body. Tighten your stomach muscles, push with your legs, and slowly return to the standing position. To place your child onto the floor, the same half-kneel technique should be performed. CARRYING/HOLDING YOUR CHILD When holding or carrying your child, you should always hold him or her close to your body and balanced in the center of your body. Avoid holding your child in one arm and balanced on your hip. When using a child carrier be sure to keep your back straight and your shoulders back to avoid straining your back and neck. PICKING UP TOYS FROM THE FLOOR As a parent you will too often be involved in cleaning up after your child. When picking toys up from the floor, keep your head and back straight, and while bending at your waist, extend one leg off the floor straight behind you. This is often called a “golfer’s lift”, as you may see some “seasoned” golfers retrieve their ball from the hole this way.

LIFTING YOUR CHILD OUT OF THE CRIB
If your child’s crib has a rail that lowers, you will want it in the lowest position when lifting your child out of the crib. As you lift, keep your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent. Arch your low back and, while keeping your head up, bend at your hips. With both arms, grasp your child and hold him or her close to your chest. Straighten your hips so you are in an upright position, and then extend your knees to return to a full stand. To return your child to the crib, use the same technique and always remember to keep your child close to your chest. PUSHING A STROLLER When pushing your child in a stroller, you will want to stay as close to the stroller as possible, allowing your back to remain straight and your shoulders back. The force to push the stroller should come from your entire body, not just your arms. Avoid pushing the stroller too far ahead of you because this will cause you to hunch your back and shoulders forward. Children and parenting are stressful enough. Focus on proper body movement and enjoy those kiddo’s without unneeded aches and pains.
