ANNUAL INCENTIVE
The Board of Directors has approved the continuation of the annual incentive, which has been offered in previous years. All accounts paid in full for the year of 2014 will be eligible to participate in the drawing. In order to qualify, the entire balance for the year (not quarterly) must be paid by March 31, 2014. This would require a payment of $300.00 in full (if you are current on your account). Your statement may vary depending on your existing balance. Please note that the first quarter assessments are still due January 1st but paying quarters 2, 3, and 4 by March 31, 2014 will make you eligible to participate in the drawing. There will be 10 gift cards valued at $50.00 each provided to 10 lucky members of our community as a measure of appreciation. Again, remember that in order to be eligible you must pay the entire balance no later than March 31th, 2014. Payments may be made by check or credit card by visiting www.spectrumam.com. If you have not already registered, this will be required in order to complete your payment. You may also access your account, governing documents, minutes from meetings and budgets as well. Thank you in advance for making our community a great place to live! Sincerely, Wildhorse Board of Directors Copyright Š 2014 Peel, Inc.

Morning with Santa On December 7, 2013 when the cold temperature was about thirty degrees, several families made it out to the Morning with Santa event hosted by the Board of Directors. There were about 40 children who all had their photos taken with Santa and parents were emailed their digital copies. We also had hot cocoa and scrumptious cookies to brunch on. All unwrapped toys received were given to the Battered Women and Children’s Shelter. The Board of Directors would like to thank Sharon O’Mullan for volunteering and helping with the entire event, and Suzanne Hill Patrick for dropping off the toys at the shelter. Thank you to those families who participated in this event.
Wildhorse Holiday Adult Party Hilda Black and the Board of Directors hosted the Wildhorse Holiday Adult Party at the Two- Step Restaurant and Cantina on Friday, December 6th. The event had more than 100 residents in attendance, where appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages were served. Although the weather was cold, residents had a blast and donated canned goods to the San Antonio Food Bank. A special thanks to Hilda Black for hosting this event on such short notice.

"Auld Lang Syne" By Ellen Lounsberry Have you ever wondered what the tune “Auld Lang Syne” really means as you sing this each year? The song is normally sung as the old year is coming to a close with the new one just beginning at the stroke of midnight. Do you also wonder where the phrase originated from as you belt out the tune at each New Year’s celebration? Auld Lang Syne is a Scots poem written by Robert Burns in 1788. The title translated in English literally means “days gone by”. As we say goodbye to 2013, let us not forget the many things that have taken place during the year. Do not forget to reflect on the good and the bad. Hopefully, many of us learned some valuable lessons from our shortcomings as well as from the various good deeds we may have taken part in. Contrary to what the phrase is translated to, old times and days gone by could bring us some joyous memories. If for some reason there were some unpleasant memories for you in the past year, perhaps 2014 could bring forth a better year to look forward to. With time and healing, maybe the unpleasant memories could be turned into some very valuable lessons learned that could assist you in evolving as a person. Some of you may have already begun tackling a New Year’s resolution for 2014. If so, I wish you the best of luck! I know it never works for me since resolutions seem to me like they are made to be broken. However, if that resolution means improving yourself holistically, then I say more power to you. The question I ask is: Shall we really wait for New Year’s to make ourselves a better version of us? Shouldn’t growing and improving as a person be a continuous feat, and not just as a part of one’s resolution? Maybe. As a community, let us strive to be good neighbors and citizens for this coming year. If you haven’t had the opportunity to volunteer for any community events as of yet, maybe strive to do one event this 2014. There are many volunteer opportunities and I am sure your lending hand would be welcomed by the various committees. Lastly, if you are holding on to a grudge as a result of an occurrence with someone in 2013, let it be left alone in “days gone by” from a long ago time. Trust me when I say you are only hurting yourself by holding on to the past. Welcome 2014! Let us make it a good year, Wildhorse!!!
