Neighborhood Watch Have you thought about learning something new in 2014? Have you ever wanted to have a bird’s eye view into the Sheriff’s department? Well there is good news!
TRAVIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S CITIZEN’S ACADEMY
Every year the Travis County Sheriff’s department offers “Sheriff’s Citizen’s Academy”. This program is a 40-hour program designed to invite citizens 18 years and older with a credible background and expose them to working knowledge of the Travis County Sheriff's Office and the criminal justice system as it works in our county. The class starts with an introduction to the workings of the criminal justice system and is presented by one of the Counties Assistant District Attorneys. During the program you learn about the hiring process, internal affairs investigations, the workings of the corrections system (also includes a tour of the jails) and finally expose you to everything you always want to know about law enforcement and more. The next class is tentatively scheduled to start March 18th and will run for 13 weeks with week 13 being the graduation & dinner. It is set tentatively for March 18th as they require a minimum of 25 students to host the class. If you are interested in attending this class please go to http://www.tcscaaa.org/ and sign up.
