sports seasons All the Brushy Creek Sports Seasons are now registering! Your child can choose from volleyball, soccer, t-ball, and flag football (or maybe even more than one!). All games are played either in the Community Center or at Community Park. Why choose Brushy Creek Youth Sports? We offer a fun, encouraging environment that is focused on fundamentals and allowing the children to have fun! For more information on any of the youth sports leagues, contact DJ Marek at d.marek@bcmud.org.

BBQ Cook-off Kick-Off Party Wrap-up We would like to give a BIG THANK YOU to last year's Grand Champions Brad Henson and his cooking team for cooking the delicious BBQ for everyone to sample as well as display for the Cook off Kickoff party on Sunday! We greatly appreciate all your time and talent for cooking BBQ. The Winner of our Sauce Contest was team Mason Dixon Swine! Their team received one free registration for this year's cook off! Thank you to everyone who came out on Sunday and thank you to those who participated in our first BBQ Sauce contest! We look forward to seeing everyone in April for the 2014 BBQ Cook-off and Family Festival. Don't forget that registration for previous cooking teams opens on Monday, February 3rd and open registration begins Feb.17th! Gardening Tip of the Week Texas is not a place where regular tulips and hyacinths will come up year after year from bulbs planted in the ground. You can however purchase tulips and hyacinths that have been forced in large commercial horticultural refrigerators. You may find these currently at some of your large big box retailers with garden centers. They come in small 4" pots or 4 or six pack pots and are planted in the same way you would plant an annual like pansies, snapdragons, dianthus, petunias or other annual bedding color. You may also want to plant them in pots to move in your home or around your garden once they are in full bloom. Happy Gardening!

Since October 2013, the District has completed several Park Improvement projects around the District. The picture above is of the brand new half court basketball court in the Highland Horizon neighborhood. Sendero Springs Park received a great new addition -- a modified size full court basketball court. The much anticipated Shirley McDonald Park and Pond improvements were completed (even fish were added already!). Upcoming projects include the completion of the Community Center front entrance landscaping project and the Creekside Park & Pool fence project. The old chain link fence will be replaced with a 7-foot tall ornamental fence to assist in beautifying the area. It’s that wonderful time of year again. Basketball season has begun and it’s time to root your favorite team on to victory. It’s also time to play a little “hoops” outside. Please take advantage of the basketball courts in the neighborhood. If those courts aren’t available and you choose to play in the streets please be considerate of your neighbors by following a few easy guidelines: --Remember that safety always comes first. Parked cars and curvy roads make it difficult to see you playing. Give cars the right of way. Let them pass through before continuing the game. --Also, try not to play too late into the evening. Some people go to work early in the morning and they might be trying to get some sleep. --Finally, keep the courts clean and have fun!
