Bee Creek UMC Outreach supports La Senda Christian Home and School by an annual fundraiser, which will take place on SUNDAY, April 26, at Angel’s Ice House (21815 W Hwy 71) from 5-9 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Ken Davidson and the Black Diamond Express, a Super Group of Texas musicians who individually have played Classic Rock all over the world with various bands. They all now live in Austin and enjoy playing together and bringing the sounds of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s to their many fans. ROCK ON! The low cost of $30/ticket pre-sale & $35 at the door (children under 10/$10) includes these outstanding musicians, a BBQ beef and chicken dinner, Silent Auction, Raffle, door prizes, and a fun night with family and friends for a very worthy cause. Cash bar will be available. Last year’s event had over 200 people in attendance and raised $40,000. We hope to exceed in both areas this year. Proceeds from this event benefit the La Senda Christian Home and School. Missionaries Steve and Pamela English founded The World Our Parish, Inc. (www.TWOP.org) in 1998 for the purpose of establishing and supporting a mission in Guatemala, Central America. La Senda (“The Way”) provides a home for abused, abandoned, and orphaned children. Currently there are 14 children living permanently at the home. The school was added as a way to educate La Senda’s children. It opened its doors to the public in 2004 and attendance has grown to over 150 students. Mission Teams from Bee Creek UMC have been going there for 8 years and the church helps support La Senda Home and School. To purchase tickets, make a monetary donation, or for more information, please contact Susan Douglass at susandouglass@ austin.rr.com.

RetiRe BetteR - A Lifetime of income

THE TAX TALK wITh Josh sTIvERs

The anticipation (or dread) of the tax return season is officially underway. Of course, your attitude about tax time may be dependent on how much income you earn and the quality of financial and tax advice you receive. While the focus and media attention tends be on the top 1% of income earners, a new statistic reveals a startling fact; you may be part of a larger group of tax payers responsible for footing over 70% of America’s tax bill. According to Kiplinger, the top 10% of income earners (those making $125,195 or more) are responsible for a whopping 70.2% of the tax burden. That’s right, only 10% of the population is responsible for almost 3/4 of the tax revenue. Because such a minority of Americans are paying the vast majority of taxes it stands to reason that this “10%” should be reviewing how tax efficient their investment plan is in order to keep more of their hard-earned income in their pocket. Probably the most common and most costly mistake that I see when reviewing a prospective clients’ investment and tax situation is that their current advisor is not reviewing their tax return each year as part of their overall success strategy. This “financial malpractice” compounds investment advice that is not tax efficient. Your tax return is the heartbeat to your financial life and when your investment hand is working with your tax hand less money should fall through the cracks each year at tax time.

When was the last time your advisor asked to see a copy of your tax return? Here are some of the more popular and effective ways to become more tax efficient whether you’re in the top 10% or not: 1) Max Out Your Retirement 2) Tax-Free Munis 3) Use Carryover Losses 4) Purposeful Investing 5) Dump Mutual Funds, Own Stocks 6) Natural Resource Exploration Investments 7) Fund a “Non-Qualified Retirement Account” Space does not allow for a complete discussion of each of these strategies. The key take away is the necessity to review your tax return with a competent investment advisor on an annual basis. If you would like to discuss how you can give less of your hard earned dollars to the government, we would be happy to have the “tax talk” with you. If you would like further information on this topic or to receive a copy of our report on retirement income planning, please send your requests to the email below. As always, we are here to answer your pressing questions and concerns regarding retirement investment planning. Send your questions and information requests to retirebetter@ platinumwealthadvisory.com.

News You Can Use Austin Charity Making a Difference for Local Families Austin Families Awarded Therapy Sponsorships for Children with Autism

Imagine A Way, an Austin based charity that helps families whose children are diagnosed with autism, awards therapy sponsorships to three more Central Texas children. Imagine A Way sponsors local families with children on the Autism Spectrum by funding proven, critical therapies during the child’s early years of ages 2-6. While the cause of autism is still unknown, early intervention has shown proven success. The most significant impact occurs when children receive intense, consistent therapies during their preschool years. Everyday children are entering, and leaving, this window of time. Limited resources can mean the difference in reaching the child or losing them. “When we established Imagine A Way, we committed to making a difference, one child and one family at a time,” Joel explains. “By providing therapies during this window of time, the children are given the opportunity to reach their full potential – and parents get their child back” says Joel Price, founder of Imagine A Way. In Austin, therapies for children with autism average between $36,000 and $72,000 a year, far beyond what most families can afford. Last month, three more children were chosen to receive the

charity’s support. With Imagine A Way’s help, these children may receive over 6000 hours of speech and ABA therapies before turning age 7. And with autism, every hour counts. “For every family we can help, we make a difference. This changes the trajectory of a child’s life,” states Mark Taylor, President of Imagine A Way’s Board of Directors. Imagine A Way is accepting applications for sponsorship and invites any Central Texas family with a child (age 2-6) diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum to please visit their websitewww. ImagineAWayFoundation.org or call for more information on how to apply. About Imagine A Way: Imagine A Way is an Austin based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization bringing support, therapies and hope for the future to Central Texas Area families affected by Autism. For more information about Imagine A Way visit their website www.ImagineAWayFoundation. org or call (512) 220-4324.
