Dive-In Movies will be shown at the main Silverlake Pool the 2nd Saturday in June, July and August. Our first movie in June will be “Big Hero 6”!

Silverlake HOA Board member loss The members of the Silverlake Homeowner's Association Board of Directors would like to express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mark Clark who passed away on March 6, 2015 after a brave battle with cancer. It is with a heavy heart that we convey this message to the membership.

Mark had served as a Director since 2008 and represented neighborhood 5.

He was an outstanding volunteer and servant as a Board member, keeping an ever present finger on the pulse of our community. He leaves his loving family, wife Deonna and children Abigail and Charlie. He will be sorely missed by all and his humor and enthusiasm will forever be lost from our meetings and activities.

Vandalism Sadly, there have again been issues with vandalism in the community. Most recently, the new signs placed at the playground and pool, outlining the rules, has been defaced. Our intent is to identify the persons responsible and to prosecute. Vandalism is a crime punishable by jail, monetary fines or both. There is a potential for vandalism to cost several thousands of dollars to the homeowners when it is not prevented and/or stopped. Your Board of Directors is asking for your help in keeping a watchful eye out for malicious or suspicious behavior that may be destroying or defacing our property and amenities. Report your findings to any of the Board members or the Brazoria County Sherriff's Office at 281-331-9000.

We can’t believe it’s already May! We have lots to look forward to during out last month of school. May is also the month of Teacher Appreciation Week, we certainly appreciate all the wonderful teachers we have here at Silvercrest. Go Stallions!

PTA General Meeting Please take note that our next general meeting will take place on Thursday, May 14th at 6:30pm in the school cafeteria. Our PTA does great work and we look forward to seeing old friends and new, so come along and find out how the PTA works on behalf of our school and how you can help.

Silverlake Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States, and is the second leading cause of cancer deaths.

Screening is vital because early stages of the disease are easier to treat. The American Cancer Society recommends women: • Obtain yearly mammography screenings, beginning at age 40 • Obtain yearly clinical breast exams • Check your breasts regularly for lumps • Discuss their breast cancer risk with their physician Breast cancer risk increases as we age. Other factors that increase a woman’s risk for breast cancer include: • Having started menstrual periods at a young age • Having a first child after age 30 • Use of hormone replacement therapy • Having a family history of breast cancer

Men are also at risk for rare cases of breast cancer. All persons familiar with the normal look and feel of their breasts should promptly report any unexpected changes to their physicians. The American Cancer Society recommends both women and men consult their doctor if they notice any of the following: • A new, hard lump or thickening in any part of the breast • Change in breast size or shape • Dimpling or puckering of the skin • Swelling, redness, or warmth that does not go away • Recurrent pain in a particular part of the breast • Pulling in of the nipple • Nipple discharge that starts suddenly in only one breast • An itchy, sore, or scaly area on one nipple
