WHAT’S HAPPENING IN AND AROUND OUR NEIGHBORHOOD Karen Calvert, HOA Communications

Wondering what’s going on in and around our neighborhood? Well here are a few things to catch-up on… Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing holiday and enjoyed the wonderful display of holiday lights on the homes throughout the neighborhood. And, another big THANK YOU to the Social Committee for a fun and successful Winter Wonderland event attended by many families in the neighborhood. If you still have a live Christmas tree to get rid of, you might want to consider recycling it. Each year the City of Cedar Park sponsors a Christmas Tree Recycling program. This year you can drop off your tree on Saturday, January 9, 2016, in the parking lot of the Cedar Park Recreation Center located at 1435 Main Street. Drop off times are from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon. Normal trash pickup is also available for tree disposal. If you leave your tree out for normal trash pickup, the City asks that you cut the tree in half and tie and bundle the limbs with twine or rope. You may have heard that Cedar Park’s watering restrictions changed on December 1st. The Cedar Park City Council decided to return to Stage 2 restrictions, allowing for outside watering twice per week. This decision also removed the temporary 9%

water surcharge that was imposed during the stage 3 drought restrictions. This rate change became effective with your December water usage. Although winter is here, there are still a few things we can do in January to prepare our lawns and gardens for the new year. Here are a few things found on www.greenscapesaustin.com and from KXAN’s Weekend Gardener: • Cut back dormant, woody plants and shrubs • Prune trees, especially Live Oaks • Transplant roses, shrubs and trees and Divide and transplant perennials • Add manure or compost to your vegetable gardens • Fertilize roses, berry buses, daylilies, pansies, etc. • Preserve your garden tools by putting boiled linseed oil on the wooden handles and spraying WD-40 on the metal portions of the tools. And last, but not least, the HOA will provide a review of the past year at the annual meeting being planned for February 2016. Stay tuned for more information!! Okay, that’s all for now! See you around the neighborhood!
