CAT MOUNTAIN VIEW
APRIL 2016
VOLUME 4, NUMBER 4
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE I would like to thank all of you that came out to the Annual Meeting of the residents in February. Thanks to our social chair, Charlene Casillas for putting out the snacks for those of us that came straight from work. I would also like to thank Jesse for working diligently to obtain enough proxies to make our quorum. The meeting was well attended and the election went smoothly, Sheri Gallo shared with us much of the activities over the past year within District 10 and how they had worked hard to eliminate many of the problem short term rental homes in the area. In a special meeting of the new board of directors that evening, I have once again been nominated to sit at the head of the table, my new term will be 2016-2018. This year we will also have Ken Nirenberg replacing Davison Grant as Treasurer. Ken’s long history in the payroll software market makes him the logical choice. Our newest board member Doug Powell will take on the secretarial responsibilities for the HOA. Departing Treasurer, Mr. Grant will work with Ken in the coming months to complete the transition, so I believe we are in great hands. I’d also like to thank Marc Dully and Richard Schley for their continued service on the board. Dogs continue to be a problem in the neighborhood. There are numerous dogs left to bark all day and all night in various areas of the villas. We have sent letters to some homeowners on Fern Hollow and Balsam Hollow and the owners of the dogs made efforts to correct the behavior. In March we have had a few more complaints about dogs that have been left out unattended for long periods while barking. The city has been alerted and is very concerned with the welfare of the animals and will be working with us to monitor the situation. There are many residents who office at home and have to listen to these dogs barking all day, specifically on March 7th we had a report of a small dog in the Mt. Bonnell and Lookout Mountain area that was left to bark all day and night. This is very inconsiderate

to your neighbors and regarded as neglectful by the city and will be reported as such. In March we held our annual Egg Hunt for the kids in our neighborhood. It was great to see so many new faces and families with small children. I would also like to thank all the volunteers who helped stuff & hide eggs as well as make the event another success. We are still in the process of understanding the City of Austin’s new water utility rates and what it means for us. Located around the neighborhood are many utility hook-ups for both water and electric. We are taking a hard look at what we use and what we really need in an effort to see if we can trim some overhead costs before we have to pass along the most recent rate hike to the residents. I would encourage you all to get involved in any way you can in the community. If you have ideas of how we might improve our neighborhood, please share them with Jesse. We are looking for help with our committees, specifically someone to oversee the social committee. We are also looking for a newsletter editor to help oversee the publishing of the Cat Mountain View. You would interface with the Communications Committee and publish a simple 4-8 page newsletter every month. Our publisher Peel Inc. actually does the publication work; we just have to organize the content for them. Typically it consists of the social (wine, book, yoga, tennis) information and presidents message along with information from the manager. If you have any interest in helping out please contact myself or Jesse. Looking forward to a great year! Best Regards, Bryan Harter Cat Mountain HOA | President
