Crime Watch Update: (Carlos Rosado) We are still trying to put together our Neighborhood Watch Program. A Neighborhood Watch is neighbors helping neighbors. They are extra eyes and ears for reporting crime and helping neighbors. Members meet their neighbors, learn how to make their homes more secure, watch out for each other and the neighborhood, and report activity that raises their suspicions to the police. Without your help we can't have a program. Any community resident can join - young and old, single and married, renter and homeowner. Even the busiest of people can belong to a Neighborhood Watch - they too can keep an eye out for neighbors as they come and go. A Neighborhood Watch can also help with getting information out to residents during emergencies whether it's crime related, weather related, or a lost child in the neighborhood. There are basically two levels of participation, Watch Member and Block Captain. Watch members are residents who through their every day activities keep an eye out for suspicious activities and report it to the police and their Block Captain. Block Captains are part of the Neighborhood Watch Committee, attend meetings, and be the liaison between the Neighborhood Watch Committee and the residents on their street. Meetings would probably be every month or every other month. Block Captains would also have to attend a 2 hour training session on Community Policing, Crime Prevention, and Neighborhood Watch at the Leander Police Department. Other responsibilities of a Block Captain are knowing who lives on your assigned street and having up to date contact information for residents on your street who want to be part of the Neighborhood Watch Program. Events Update: (Brian Crooks) On Saturday, April 2nd from 8am - 6pm Vista Ridge will have a Spring Party and Neighborhood Garage sale. We will have food and beverages, bounce house, raffle, and an opportunity for you to do some spring cleaning. We will advertise the garage sale, provide signs and balloons, and you can either hold it at your house or come to the area between the pool and the mail boxes and sell it with your neighbors. We will have tables and tents. You are welcome to bring extra tables and tents if you need to. If you want to sell your items with us you will need to be present until your items have sold. If you would like to donate your items we can sell them on your behalf and proceeds will be donated to the Leander SPCA. Pool & Park Update: (Tim Lehner) We recently painted the pool restroom floors with anti-slip paint and spread new wood chips around the play structure. We are planning a shade awning for the South end of the pool. Use www.vistaridge.community to reserve the pavilion or order a new pool key.
