VOLUME 4, NUMBER 10

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

We finally had a chance to close out summer with a BBQ! I hope you had a chance to join us! The food was fantastic thanks to Rudy’s and the event came together thanks to Charlene and Jesse! The weather was forecast to be raining all weekend but we got lucky and had sunshine and more humidity than I care for but all things considered it was a wonderful afternoon. The dessert contest was well attended with many entries; all kinds of wonderful cakes, pies and cookies. I regret not having room enough after the great brisket to try them all! Please see the events page for the winners and the winning recipe. Thank you to all the folks who brought out side dishes and desserts to share with our neighbors. I’d like to again thank Adrienne Boer for all the hard work she puts into organizing the book club. She has done a fantastic job with the group over the past 3 years, hosting the meetings and bringing in local authors to discuss the books they have written. The group continues to thrive and welcomes new members and guests to attend. They read a variety of genres and decide what books to read quarterly. See the book club section in this issue for more information. Thanks also to Charley Devany for hosting his free yoga clinics at the clubhouse each week. If you are interested in trying yoga, come out and join them. The schedule is posted in the social calendar. Lastly, thank you to all the gracious neighbors who have opened their homes and hosted wine club socials over the past couple of years. I look forward to seeing you at the next wine social in October. I would like to ask for some volunteers to help with the planning and execution of this year’s Holiday party. We always need help and ideas. Please contact Charlene if you would like to assist. As November approaches, I encourage you to vote. The Cat Mountain Clubhouse will be a polling place on election day, so you won’t have to travel far. Vote early if you can, lines will likely be shorter than election day. There is more information in this issue. Halloween has not been a very big event in Cat Mountain over the 22 years I have been here probably due to the terrain as much as

anything. Our streets are not well lit and the yards and driveways can be challenging for little ones in costumes. I would encourage you to host your own Halloween parties with neighbors in your immediate cul-de-sac or “hollow” as many of our streets are aptly named. If you want to participate in the evening trick or treating, please turn on your house and porch lights. If you don’t want to participate, go dark for the evening so that trick or treaters will respect your wishes for privacy. Have fun! Be safe! As a reminder, you can receive this newsletter online by signing up at www.peelinc.com. The online format is a bit more colorful and it’s green, saving the environment from the cost of paper, printing and delivery. In the coming year, we would like to get 100% of the residents to receive the newsletter via email. Please take a minute to send Jesse your email and current phone so that we have it in case of emergency or as a way to send the newsletter. Bryan Harter Cat Mountain HOA | President
