Don’t Let Thieves Ruin Your Holiday by Ron Urias Our neighborhood happens to be located in an area that is very porous. There are SO MANY ways to get in and out of Sendera quickly that burglars and thieves find it easy to target our subdivision. Be careful not to become a victim of burglary or theft during the holiday season. If you plan to travel, please don’t load your vehicle in plain sight in the driveway. Yellowing newspapers in the driveway also tells the whole world you are not home. Leave lights on while you're traveling so that it appears someone might be home at night. Have your neighbors remove door hangers, too. The best deterrent is the neighbors who live right by you. Let them know you're out of town and have them keep an eye out on your house. One of my close neighbors asked her neighbors to park their truck in her driveway while she was gone for a few days. More importantly, if you see a suspicious vehicle in the area, CALL THE COPS! I've heard over and over "Well, I thought they looked
out of place carrying things out of my neighbors house...I should have called the police.” Better to err on the side of caution. Unfortunately, stolen packages are also a normal thing. I wish it weren't so, but there are people who target your mail during the holidays. You can prevent this, depending on whom you use for delivery. UPS and FedEx both have delivery options that allow you to control how and when your package is delivered or picked up. UPS can hold your package at no charge for up to five days and send it to a UPS Customer Center of your choice. FedEx can leave a door tag in place of delivery and allow you to pick up your package at a specific time and FedEx location. These options will ensure you dutifully receive the hand-sewn afghan from your grandma or that gift you are going to return once the stores become less crowded. Best wishes from the Sendera BOD!
Sendera Entrance Lights Upgrade A plan to upgrade the electrical systems at each of the four entrances to Sendera was approved. Work will begin before December 1. Once completed, the improved systems will better handle the load of Christmas lights. Copyright © 2016 Peel, Inc.
