On a semi-cold December Saturday morning a throng of Cypress Mill residents ushered in their holidays with a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Held at the Cypress Mill Recreation Center, neighbors from around the Mill waited to see and visit Santa. Everyone, from babies to the elderly were there to hopefully give their list of things they wanted, take a picture with Santa, or say hello. Mrs. Claus gave out candy canes and warm wishes while neighbors piled into the center where the offerings of face painting, balloon art and coloring abided. “We like to give back to the community and we are very family oriented,” said Jacqui Williams, a volunteer who helped to put on the event along with her mother, Mary Jane Spevak. “It’s important for us to do something for the community.” Williams, along with her daughter, Kyndall has been running the event for the last seven years. Dressed as Santa’s helper, Kyndall, with exuberant glee, shared that her favorite part of the event is the camaraderie. “It’s really fun. I get to see all of my friends and I like Christmas,” she shared. The event gave neighbors a chance to meet up and ring in the forthcoming holiday season. Here’s hoping you have a great holiday as well. Copyright © 2017 Peel, Inc.
