The Lakeway Players The Lakeway Players are proud to present the musical comedy “INTO THE WOODS”; Music and Lyrics by STEPHEN SONDHEIM, Book by JAMES LAPINE. “INTO THE WOODS” is a musical that intertwines the plots of several Brothers Grimm and Charles Perrault fairy tales, exploring the consequences of the characters' wishes and quests. The main characters are taken from "Little Red Riding Hood", "Jack and the Beanstalk", "Rapunzel", and "Cinderella", as well as several others. The musical is tied together by a story involving a childless baker and his wife and their quest to begin a family (the original beginning of The Grimm Brothers' Rapunzel), their interaction with a witch who has placed a curse on them, and their interaction with other storybook characters during their journey. The musical debuted in San Diego at the Old Globe Theatre in 1986 and premiered on Broadway on November 5, 1987, where it won several Tony Awards, including Best Score, Best Book, and Best Actress in a Musical (Joanna Gleason). The show runs 3 nights; Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, November 2nd, 3rd and 4th, at the Lakeway Activity Center, 105 Cross Creek, Lakeway. Call 512-261-1010 for tickets which are $25 each. Seating will be at tables of 10, and is BYOB as well as your own food if you like. Setups and light snacks will be provided. The show starts at 7:30 with doors opening at 6:30.

Bee Cave Messenger School Supplies + LOV + YOU = Success in the Classroom! For the seventh year running we sounded a call for help on behalf of local families financially unable to send their children to school with the supplies they need. Our community’s resounding “Yes!” means that these children will not lack the materials necessary to the learning process. Project Supply Pack delivered prepackaged campus & grade specific supply packs directly to 245 students from over 100 families, coded Economically Disadvantaged, on their desks at Back to School Night events. Additional requests for assistance were filled by community donations received through this year’s School Supply Collection drive, including 292 backpacks, which provided basic supplies to over 100 additional students, including Lake Travis High School students who do not participate in the pre-packaged ordering system. We also received just under $5000 dollars in cash donations which will be used to fund wish lists at LTISD campuses with the highest percentage of students who qualify for the Free & Reduced Federal Lunch Program. Interviews and inquiries are currently Pictured, from left, Rachelle Sturgis, Rough Hollow Lifestyle Director, Linda underway to assess the best allocation of these funds in Michael, Tuscan Village Member Services Director, and Fionnuala Stockton, LTlov School Supplies Program Chair the district.

Bee Cave Messenger Make Sure Your Halloween has more Treats than Tricks Halloween is supposed to be a night filled with fun and candy, but sadly the American Automobile Association (AAA) says October 31st is the second deadliest day of the year for pedestrians. Toni Odumosu, M.D., who practices at the Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center, says parents and kids should follow these safety tips to make their Halloween a safe and enjoyable night. 1. Walk safely. Make sure children travel in groups, utilize sidewalks when available, and look both ways when crossing the street. Parents should accompany trick-or-treaters under the age of 12. Those children allowed to walk without an adult should stick to areas where they are familiar with their surroundings. 2. Keep costumes creative and safe. Ill-fitting costumes or masks that make it difficult to see can be a recipe for an injury. Make sure costumes aren’t too long and opt for face paint rather than masks, if possible. If the mask is a must, make sure your child can see in all directions when it is worn. 3. Consider your accessories. Children should not carry sharp

objects or anything that could be mistaken for a weapon. 4. Stay well lit. Whether you trick-or-treat before the sun goes down, or carry flashlights, it is important that cars and other groups can see you. Consider putting reflective tape on dark-colored costumes. 5. Check the candy. Children are eager to tear into their loot, but parents should sort through the candy at the end of the night. Throw away anything that is not in its original wrapper. Children under the age of four should not consume hard or sticky candy, so that should be taken out as well. “I also caution parents against allowing sugar overload. Kids want to eat their entire collection of candy in one day, but they will regret it later. Ration the candy to avoid stomach aches. Some dentists also offer “trade-in” programs where kids can swap the sugary treats for toys. I know it may be a hard sell for parents, but remind kids who make the swap that they can celebrate Halloween year-round with their new toy” encourages Dr. Odumosu.

RETIRE BETTER

WHEN HALF IS MORE

Did you know the stock market has always gone up over time? Even with crazy dot.com busts and great recessions, you can still make money over the long term by investing publicly traded stock. As a matter of fact, for the years 2000-2016, a $1 Million investment in the S&P500 would have grown to over $2.1M. This assumes you can invest directly in the S&P500 index without any fees. During this time period there were only 4 negative years. Not bad, that means you made money 75% of the time. But what would have happened if you could skip those 4 bad years? Your investment would have grown to over $5.3M....that’s over 150% more. Most people would agree that is a pretty substantial difference. So how do you skip the bad years? Unfortunately, this would be like having your cake and eating it too. Even though it is nearly impossible to participate in

100% of the gains of the market with zero risk during the bad years, it is possible to structure an investment plan to participate in 45-50% of the gains while protecting against loss. Assuming that you only made half of the gains of the S&P500 for the time frame above, and were able to sit out the 4 bad years, your $1M investment would have grown to over $2.4M. By missing out on the losses, you would have over $300k more. I can’t stress enough how important it is to avoid losses. When you don’t lose, you don’t have to take as much risk to make up for the bad years. By properly structuring your long term investment plan, the above scenario is not only an example but is actually possible. To find out more give me a call or shoot me an email and we can discuss further.
