Congratulations Redmons! On February 17, 2018, the Lakeshore Community Clubhouse was transformed into a ‘baby wonderland!’ Patricia Washington, utilized the facility to host a fabulous baby shower for her sister and brotherin-law, Regenia and Jonathan Redmon. All are Lakeshore residents. Regenia and Jonathan prepared to welcome their first child by celebrating with more than 70 friends and family from as far away as California. Patricia planned every detail of the beautiful affair from color coordinated backdrops and lush table linens to floor to ceiling fresh flowers. Table centerpieces featured carefully curated outfits that the baby will be able to enjoy as she grows. Guests enjoyed appetizers and a lunch catered by Italiano’s in Atascocita and a tower of cupcakes were from Yummy Tummy Bakery in Humble. A special table was set just for dad-to-be, complete with a ‘survival’ tool kit and instructions for diaper duty. Patricia and Regenia’s mother, Grace Washington and Jonathan’s mother, Georgia Redmon were seated head table with the parents-to-be. The celebration was complete with hours of fun games with shower themed prizes. Patricia and Grace hand-crafted tasty favors for the guests so no-one left empty handed. Copyright © 2018 Peel, Inc.
Regenia and Jonathan would like extend their most heartfelt thanks to Patricia for hosting such a grand soiree in their honor and acknowledge that she has been promoted from Best Sister Ever to Best Aunt ever! They would also like to thank the bevy of neighbors, family and friends who attended the shower and were so generous to their sweet baby girl.
Our newest neighbor, Miss Reagan Harper Redmon was born on March 23, 2018 weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches in length. She is happy, healthy and the absolute joy of the WashingtonRedmon family! (More Photos Continued on Page 6) The Lakeshore Report - August 2018

Again, as previously discussed, NONE of the burglaries involved breaking into vehicles. THEY ALL INVOLVED PEOPLE LEAVING THEIR VEHICLES UNLOCKED OVERNIGHT. People leaving their vehicles parked in driveways or on the street are AGAIN cautioned to remove valuables from plain view and to lock the vehicle when it is left unattended. C. The dangers of leaving children and pets in unattended vehicles was discussed. D. Recent deaths of children caused by firearms in the home was discussed. It is the gun owner’s responsibility to keep their firearms safely stored and in a location where they are out of the reach of small children. Constable Mark Herman offered free gun locks to gun owners during the month of June. If you are interested, call the Precinct 4 Constables Office at 832-927-6200 to see if free locks are still available. (Continued on Page 3) Copyright © 2018 Peel, Inc.

THE LAKESHORE REPORT HEAD LICE Head lice can become a problem brought home from summer camp or during the school year. These insects are small, tan to gray, and wingless. Eggs, also called nits, are glued to the hair shaft near the scalp. Nits are dark in color until they have hatched and turn white. It takes 7-11 days for eggs to hatch. Females lay 3-5 eggs each day and live from 7-10 days. Head lice reside on the hairy part of the head. If they drop off, they only live for about 2 days. They are incapable of surviving on pets and are not known to transmit any diseases from person to person. Several states, including Texas, now have what are being called “super lice”. Essentially these lice are resistant to pesticides commonly found in over the counter lice treatments. If you are using an over the counter treatment for lice and they are not dying, then you need to see a physician. Doctors are able to prescribe other treatments that can kill the lice. To manage lice: 1. Use an effective treatment. Head louse shampoos contain insecticides so they must be used properly and with care. Wash the infested person’s hair in a sink or basin so insecticide does not come into contact with other parts of the body. The person
shampooing should wear rubber gloves. Do NOT use off label products such as flea & tick shampoo, other insecticides, or gasoline. Only treat the infested person(s), but check everyone in the household. 2. Hair combing is an extremely important step in controlling head lice. Shampoos may not kill all eggs, so thorough combing can help remove eggs from the hair shaft. Wet hair and use a special metal louse comb to comb through small sections of hair. Remove debris from the comb with a tissue and place it in a plastic bag that can be sealed and disposed of when you are finished combing through all hair. Hair should be combed daily until no more lice or nits are found. 3. Clothing and bedding of the infested person should be washed in hot, soapy water at the same time as the treatment. If items cannot be washed, try dry cleaning. For items that cannot be laundered, place them in a sealed plastic bag in the freezer for at least 24 hours. 4. It’s important to contact anyone your child has had close contact with to let them know of the head louse infestation. (Continued on Page 5)
