October 24th from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Clubhouse. Bring a favorite game or just come and see what the rest of us brought. A deck of cards provides for many exciting adventures!!!! Do not be a stranger! The short days of Fall and Winter are upon us and we need to provide each other with some SUNSHINE!!!! See you all Soon!!!!

We meet the 4th Monday of each month at 7:30 P.M. (unless we decide to skip a month or change the meeting day). We take turns hosting the meeting and sometimes change the date or book, so please contact celeste.fritz@gmail.com to get the details for each meeting. Our group has lively discussion (not totally about the books) and we challenge ourselves to read out of our comfort zones. October 22 - The Curious Charms of Arthur Pepper by Phaedra Patrick. Sixty-nine-year-old Arthur Pepper lives a simple life. He gets out of bed at precisely 7:30 a.m., just as he did when his wife, Miriam, was alive. He dresses in the same gray slacks and mustard sweater vest, waters his fern, Frederica, and heads out to his garden. But on the one-year anniversary of Miriam’s death, something changes. Sorting through Miriam’s possessions, Arthur finds an exquisite gold charm bracelet he’s never seen before. What follows is a surprising and unforgettable odyssey that takes Arthur from London to Paris and as far as India in an epic quest to find out the truth about his wife’s secret life before they met—a journey that leads him to find hope, healing and self-discovery in the most unexpected places. No meeting in November! December 10 – Christmas party at the clubhouse. Book – One Man’s Christmas by Leon Hale, retired columnist for the Houston Chronicle. Originally published in 1984, One Man’s Christmas highlights the warmth and humor for which this legendary writer is so beloved. Whether Hale is scrambling to put together a new toy for his children on Christmas Eve, racing around to buy last minute, often misguided gifts, or reliving his family’s fraught holiday on a hardscrabble sheep farm during the Great Depression, the unique sensibility that has endeared him to generations of readers shines through every word. As usual, we will have our gently-used book gift exchange. Also, there will be a pot luck hors d’ouvres and dessert table. So many books, so little time!.....
