Silvercrest News SILVERCREST PTA
We are all happy to see cooler weather headed our way as we move fully into Fall. There are a lot of fun activities this time of year. We look forward to a month of gratitude, Fall fun, and the holidays! Go Stallions!
ANNUAL FOOD DRIVE
Our annual food drive is scheduled for October 29 - November 9. It benefits our neighbors at the Pearland Neighborhood Center and is a fun competition for our students. The grade level that brings in the most items will be recognized with a special reward! All of the items donated will help restock the food and dry goods pantry and will help fill holiday food baskets. Please help your student's class with grade specific requests to help families in need. All items should be in their original, unopened packaging. Open or expired items cannot be accepted. If you have any questions, please contact Kokila Katyal, Community Outreach Committee Chair, at 412.498.0642 or kkatyal@gmail.com. Thank you for helping out families in need!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS:
Nov 7th | Arts in Education - 2nd Grade HMNS Cool Chemistry This month, the Silvercrest PTA is proud to sponsor the ConocoPhillips’ Cool Chemistry presentation for our Second Graders from the Houston Museum of Natural Science. This exciting presentation takes an in-depth look at chemical changes and states of matter, observing various types of reactions and the byproducts created. Be sure to ask your Second Graders about it, as the presentation is during the school day and limited to students and teachers only. Other grade level presentations to come throughout the school year! Nov 13th | PISD Swap Shop | 5:00 – 7:00 pm The PISD Swap Shop is located behind the Pearland Jr. High West school, in the brown building across from the PACE Center. Enter from Old Alvin Road, and turn into the driveway leading to the PACE Center. There are 4 ways to participate: SWAP—Bring in your gently used clothing and “swap” for items new to you. It’s a great way to save money and to get refreshed or larger size clothing for your PISD student. Copyright © 2018 Peel, Inc.
DONATE—We are always looking for gently used items for those in need right here in our district. Your donation may be tax deductible so a tax receipt will be provided. VOUCHER—A voucher allows a family in need to get items from the shop. You may obtain a voucher from your school by contacting the school principal, nurse, or counselor. VOLUNTEER—volunteers are always needed. The shop is run from volunteers from PTA’s in the district.
