LADIES CLUB
BRINGS IN THE NEW YEAR
The LOEN Ladies Club continued celebrating the New Year with our Ladies Bunco at one of our member’s new lake home. Our Bunco members take turns hosting, provide appetizers, drinks, door prizes, and share wearing the winner’s tiara. Wikipedia defines Bunco as a “social dice game involving 100% luck and no skill” so anyone can learn to play this lively game. The January Dinner Club experienced fine Persian cuisine at Café Caspian. Our Dinner Club is held on Saturday evenings and open to couples, friends and family. The hosts choose the dining experience and venue. Girls’ Night Out featured a Fiesta and Tapas Party. GNO members gathered at an LOEN home to sample and share delicious Mexican food in a party atmosphere. One of our Daytime Book Club members opened her home for the intellectual discussion of The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict. Another member hosted the interesting discussion of Margaret Atwood’s Alias Grace for the Evening Book Club event. LOEN LC MEMBERSHIP DRIVE SUCCESS Our Membership Drive and General Meeting was held at the LOEN Clubhouse. New members met our established members, sampled appetizers, desserts, side dishes and entrées from the “Around the World.” We also celebrated our December and January birthday ladies. Dues are $25.00 per year to join any or all of our groups and attend as often as you like. We have a private Facebook group and our parties are by invitation only through text and email. If you missed the Dinner Party and meeting at the LOEN Clubhouse or contact us about LOEN Ladies Club membership at loenladiesclubpresident@ gmail.com. Join us in making 2019 the best year ever. Save the date for the 49th Annual Strake Jesuit Spring Fling Fundraising Festival to be held on Sunday, March 3 from noon – 6 pm at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory on 8900 Bellaire Blvd; Houston, TX 77036. There is no charge to attend the event, however Spring Fling doubloons/coins can be purchased day-of for food and to participate in games. Please join co-chairs Michelle Cashiola (mcashiola@gmail.com), Eileen Conery (eileen.conery@att.net), and Kristin Holy (ckholy@windstream. net), in making this the best Spring Fling event to date! In recognition of Mardi Gras weekend, the 2019 Spring Fling event will feature a Mardi Gras theme, so one can expect traditional carnival activities and Cajunstyle food! Don’t be surprised if there’s a “second line” passing through campus to Mardi Gras music that will be hard to resist. Since 1971, Spring Fling has been a favorite fundraising activity that brings the general public together with the Strake Jesuit community for a day of fun festivities, all while raising much-needed funding for financial aid. The festival features more than 15 food vendors, a variety of games, crafts, professional and student-led entertainment, as well as many other activities, appropriate for all ages. The current financial aid budget for Strake is $2.2 million, about 13 percent of student population. For more information or to sponsor a booth, please contact: Sheri Bordelon – sbordelon@strakejesuit.org, 713-490-8160 or visit: www. strakejesuit.org. Lakes on Eldridge North - February 2019
