About us: The Lakes on Eldridge Swim Team (LOEST) was formed in 2000 by Lakes on Eldridge resident Mary Beth Taylor. LOEST is a nonprofit organization that fields and supports a competitive summer league swim team. Our foremost goal is to provide opportunities for growth, training, enjoyment, good sportsmanship and active participation for all swim team members and their families.
The team is managed and operated by parent volunteers. We hire experienced coaches to conduct group practices that focus on water safety, improving swimming strokes and providing competitive swim training. The Lakes on Eldridge Swim Team (LOEST) is a member of the Northwest Aquatic League (NWAL). The NWAL sanctions competitive youth swimming throughout the Houston area and is one of the largest swimming organizations in the United States. The league is divided by competitive potential into five or six-team divisions. Each team swims against the other teams in the division in a series of dual meets. At the end of the season, the teams compete in a divisional meet to decide the division champion. Lakes on Eldridge North - April 2022

LOEN Ladies Club News and Information Since 2005 there has been a LOEN Ladies Club providing the women in the Lakes on Eldridge North community with opportunities to become acquainted by hosting monthly club events and activities. Although 2020 and 2021 made it impossible at times for the club to fulfil its mission, the club is finally resuming activities. We will begin resuming group activities in April and hope to be better than ever by the end of the year. Our activity groups include two Book Clubs, Bunco, Bridge, and Brunch activity groups. Our Angel Wings program is a LOEN based community support group that provides meals as needed when illness, injury, or other difficult circumstances affect members or residents. To serve our neighbors outside of LOEN, our community outreach program occasionally sponsors food, toy, supplies, and clothing drives for local charitable organizations. Ladies, we welcome new members all year long. It doesn’t matter if you just moved in or have lived here for years you are welcome to check us out. If you would like more information about the Ladies Club, please email Jeanne MacKenzie at loenladiesclubpresident@ gmail.com.

It Is Never Too Late To Get in Shape Contributed by Stephen Bartholomew
“Those who think they have not time for bodily exercise will sooner or later have to find time for illness.” ~ Edward Stanley Losing weight as we age can seem like a struggle. As we get older, it’s no secret that the infamous middle-aged spread becomes more pronounced. What’s more, the health problems that come with being overweight, such as high blood pressure and other cardiovascular issues, are also compounded with age. We have plenty of evidence right in our community that it’s never too late to start. Just pay attention to how many people, young and old alike, you find walking our trails and around our lakes, exercising at the FAC, playing pickleball, or taking water aerobics. Incorporating just 15 minutes of moderate exercise daily — such as walking one mile —will burn up to 100 extra calories (assuming you don’t consume excess calories in your diet afterward). Burning 700 calories a week can yield up to 10 pounds of weight loss over a year. Chip Whitley, one of our Cypress residents, has an even better success story than that. Chip is a busy business owner and father who spends much of his free time serving others. Specifically, he is very involved in his sons’ Boy Scout organization. What drove Chip to get in shape was his desire to be a great dad. He had always thought, “You don’t need to be fit or healthy to be a good dad, so why waste time?” That was before he found out he was over the weight limit for a hiking trip that he wanted to do with his sons. One of his sons asked him, “Dad, what are you going to do?” That simple question made something in Chip click. He changed his habits and behaviors almost overnight. He was already motivated to be a great father and realized that being healthy was a big part of that. He wasn’t simply working out to look better. He was doing it for something meaningful to him, specifically, his kids. We all have different things that motivate us. If you haven’t been taking care of yourself physically, it is because you haven’t found a good reason yet, a “why.” I’m here to tell you that the “why” is in you; you just have to look for it. Once you find it, you will, like Chip, be unstoppable. You can reach Stephen Bartholomew, fitness behavior change coach, at https://www.facebook.com/stephen.bartholomew.522, or Yourtrainerstephen@gmail.com, 832-943-7822.

APRIL – TYLER HODGSON ACOUSTIC
www.southerncountyline.com @southerncountyline I met TYLER HODGSON in person during the Fall of 2021. On stage, Tyler performs as Rhythm Guitarist for the Tribute to George Strait Band SOUTHERN COUNTY LINE and performs acoustically as the solo artist brand TYLER HODGSON ACOUSTIC and is also an OFFICAL CMS “Family of Artists” Member. He’s a local from the Magnolia, TX area with a great sense of humor a winning smile, and he does the BEST impressions! Tyler’s friendly southern demeanor spills off the stage as he sings a variety of country cover tunes. In sticking with the western theme, you can find Tyler reppin’ this classic style during the day while helping fellow bootlovers and hat-wearers working as the Assistant Manager at Cavender’s Boot City. By night, you can find Tyler performing at local Cypress venues like CREEKWOOD GRILL (Telge Rd 77429), MISFIT OUTPOST (Cypress Rosehill 77429), THE BURGER RANCH RESTAURANT (House-Hahl Rd. 77433), and MORE! SOUTHERN COUNTY LINE was named the 2018 CMA of Texas Band of The Year! They have become one of the premier country music acts in the Houston area. Followed on Facebook by nearly 10,000 fans, this 6-member band takes the stage as a “spittin’ image” of the iconic singer/songwriter George Straight! You can find them at MO’s Place (Katy) and The Dirty South (Angleton, TX). TYLER HODGSON even participated in the HLSR Cook-off as a performer this year! Do you want a catch TYLER HODGSON playing live? Watch for the CMS #WeekendLineUp to hit feeds every Wednesday to find out where you can catch slingin’ some tunes!! Tyler is also featured on the back of the Official 2022 CMS “FoA” shirts now available to purchase! Show YOUR support for Tyler, grabbing YOU a CMS Shirt and wearing it to a Tyler Show!
