This Fourth of July, Newcomb Realty Group and Design For Peace are teaming up to make a difference for Houston families starting over after experiencing homelessness. Four years ago, LeTricia Wilbanks founded Design For Peace, a non-profit that helps give women and their families a strong start as they move into their new homes. Most of these women have successfully exited the residency program offered at Mission of Yahweh, a local shelter for women and their children. Design For Peace works alongside these families and helps to make their new residence look and feel like HOME. As you can imagine, most of these families are starting from scratch with nothing but the clothes on their backs. LeTricia and Selena (Mackay), co-owners of the luxury design firm WM, and their team work to furnish and decorate these homes with donated items collected from all over the Greater Houston area.

HOA/MUD Agreement Reached! The HOA is pleased to announce that it reached an agreement with the MUD regarding the negotiations over the existing land maintenance agreement. The new agreement more clearly defines the party’s responsibilities and will benefit the homeowners of LOE. With the strong support of residents that attended last month’s HOA Board meeting, both the HOA and the MUD worked toward this resolution.

Most of us chose to live in LOE because it is a safe neighborhood and each of us has a responsibility to contribute to this environment. Speeding and running stop signs may get you home seconds sooner but are those seconds worth increasing the possibility of accidently hitting a child playing or not seeing a pedestrian crossing the street? This might happen in an instant but could permanently change your and another family’s lives forever. Please, please, please, slow down and remind all drivers in your household as well as visitors and contractors to be considerate and obey the traffic rules. Your help will let everyone continue to feel safe in LOE!
