Was there a highlight to your Byker Groove night.

The atmosphere, which was electric ! For example, the main room was full from around 11.30pm til 3am with a diverse range of people dancing, sweating and having a great time, to soul, funk, psych and disco music, which most people probably had never heard before. Ultimately, the purpose of the night was to play great music and for people to party and that’s what happened.

One of the DJs on the night asked us how we had made Byker Groove a success. Our response was a number of factors, such as a great name and poster design; promoting the event months in advance; using local DJs, primarily younger ones, with fantastic records; using the Star and Shadow Cinema, which is a fantastic venue with a great sound and lighting systems; and, keeping

the ticket price at £5.

Did you receive any feedback from people after the event

We received lots of positive feedback from people on the night about Byker Groove. The feedback which resonated the most was at the end of the event when the lights came on to the last record, Silvetti : Spring Rain (Salsoul). When the track finished, two young women came up to us and told us how fantastic the event was and expressed that they loved the music so much to the point of not wanting to go to the toilet for fear of missing it!
