Pei-Chi Lee is a textile designer known for her humorous quirky style.
Born in Taiwan, Pei-Chi graduated from Fashion Textiles at London College of Fashion, specialised in embroidery. She took part in many projects and activities which broadened her skills considerably when she was in LCF. She worked previously with Giles Deacon and Fyodor Golan as well as doing freelance embroidery designer. She was shortlisted for the LCF Illustration Competition, and won awards for her designs, Second Runner Up in the 2013 Zaffron Scarf Project.
Pei-Chi has a flair with fabric and colour. She can work with mixed media, combining her illustrations with textiles confidently. She is well known for creating the lively textured pictures by embroidery. In Pei-Chi’s final collection, inspired by the situation of the international student, to point out the concept, people’s longing of the stable life, she uses loads of padded textiles with her signature illustration print on top. Telling the stories with not only 3D tactility, but also with 2D visuality.

Few figures are as instantly reconisable as Sir Winston Churchill, David Bowie or Neil Armstrong, as they are ICONS that are clearly identified with key contributions in the 20th century. Our group are inspired by Sir Winston Churchill, we intend to capture this greater icon’s off-worked side, create a noble style of lounge wear image.
This project emphasises teamwork, networking.communication and presentation are allessential skills required to undertake the challenge of the creative industries. For textile part, in charge of the textile researching and developing, also experimenting the placement on the garment, as well as the illustration development. Interpreting from the inspiring short film: Power of Ten, looking at different scale of scene, take a step back and consider the exquisite network of systems that sustain life on planet earth, any change we make in our environment can set off a chain of unexpected reactions. As well as in our daily life, the path of whatever we do, wherever we go is just like a map. Everything is connected. For this project, recording the thinking route, can research from all the scale, and different directions, can go deeper or go wider, connected all the possibility to create a new personal mapping story.
This project is developed from my previous project. In my FMP, i was looking at “luggage X-ray Scanner”, how the colour and the shape show on the screen. Continuing this idea, looking at the carnivorous plants, to see the structure inside, also looking at the geometry shape of the plants, come up with the idea of the colour and texture. The product has been sold on the “ Ten Stores Challenge“ event.
