Life is a beach
D
& I a m just playing in the sand.
ear God,
I messed up, yup! I really messed up. I made a mess of things and I am fighting to stay afloat in this ocean we call life. Some days I feel like I am drowning and other days I feel like I am on the shore. Most days I am fine but when I stop to think about what was and how life is now I can’t help but break down. I know there is no future in the past so I have no reason to live in it but I can’t help but hurt. I am scared, and I been hurts so many times before that my judgement is cloudy and I feel as though I have lost all faith, it feels like hurt is all I know. Not faith in you, that is secure, that I have. Its faith in love and faith in being happy that is gone. I be-
lieve that you would drag us through hell just to bring us to heaven, but I think I left my heart in hell, because now when it would seem I should be in heaven I am to numb to enjoy it. I feel like a shell my exterior is the same but I am not the same, my joy is gone. I used to have an appetite for life, I took things head on and now I feel like I have no soul. There is no drive, no spark. I come from a place of hurt and God knows how hard I have cried, but it is over now so why can’t I just be happy? I want to let go but something is holding on and I am being prevented from this freedom I long to have and I just can’t be free. Set me free oh Lord, hear my cry and set me free. Let me be at peace so I can once more enjoy the little things. 1
I want to walk with courage; I want to trust. God did not give me a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. I rebuke you depression, I rebuke you oppression and I rebuke you anxiety, you are not welcomed here anymore, I do not want you or need you in my life so free me. I am healed and my heart is mine, you no longer control it. There is power in your words if you want healing demand it, you what freedom, then emancipate yourself. You would be amazed what a little self-confidence can do for oneself. Hurt is inevitable, but misery is optional…if you want something you have to believe in it, if you believe that it is your time to have it you need to trust in it. “Faith is walking face-first and full-speed into the dark. If we truly knew all the answers in advance as to the meaning of life and the nature of God and the destiny of our souls, our belief would not be a leap of faith and it would not be a courageous act of humanity; it would just be... a prudent insurance policy.” Guess life is a beach and I am just playing in the sand. Amen………..
Set me free oh Lord, hear my cry & set me free. Let me be at peace so I can once more enjoy the little things.
I am a 22 year old Model, born and raised in Sangre Grande , Trinidad and Tobago. I always had the dream and passion of becoming a model and I have decided to follow that dream about 18 months ago. After completing school and a contracted job , I have tried modelling in Trinidad earlier this year for T&T fashion week and was rejected and told that I am to " SKINNY " as they said ( smile ) , but that did not break me or was going to stop me from wanting to pursue my modelling career . I made it my mission to prove them wrong and decided to travel to New York. When I started Modelling I knew that there were going to be a great deal of challenges that I were going to have to overcome .I have been very fortunate at this point to accomplish what I have at the very beginning of my modelling career. I worked with a great deal of Photographers and Stylist in NY and very thankful. I am still very nervous and anxious at the same time about a lot of things and that is what makes this experience much exciting. As we all know Modelling in New York is extremely difficult and needs a huge amount of knowledge, hard work and determination because of the standard and the amount of models all over the world travelling here to follow their Dreams. I was told by a few agencies that I am too short, I need a stronger walk, etc ... , but I was still Determined . I went to a fashion show for New York fashion week 2010, which I was a part of and I meet a manager/world writer by the name of Richard Willis Jr. from Los Angeles and he was drawn to my look and told me that I can be very successful as a commercial, print , editorial and high fashion and that my Size ( Skinny ) is perfect for that type of modelling . That basically reassure me that all my hard work started to pay off and never stop going after 4 4
something that you believe you want in life. Since that I have worked with some of the industry’s best photographers and my passion for modelling is on the start of a great beginning and I am sure that I will make myself, my family and my country very proud. I have other interest that I will love also love to branch off into after my modelling career build , cause I know that modelling is a short term career, those interest are Acting, Fashion styling, Pubic Relation and start a Non-profit Charity for children with a learning disability and Cancer in my home neighbourhood of Sangre Grande . I love my Country and will never trade it for any other and I hope that there standards on Modelling changes and that they are not narrow minded on the models that have the Hulk Image and 'yes I will be back to cast for T&T fashion week 2011'.

Tick, Tuck, the clock happily flickers its echoes of the hands, blowing dust molecules over the overbearing chapter of orders of approximation. For every answer, answered wrong, created tingles of anger throughout their minds. All suffered migraines especially the oliveskinned Hispanic, candy apple red head Sunshine. Ghetto was her gold name plated earrings; to her cleavage fitted mini tee and her bootylicious apple bottom jeans. She was mostly noted for her baby pink coated lips that caught all paedophile’s attention. She knew she had all the sunshine for a man, but not for herself. Her name was ironic to her life as the sun shining set into the dusk of the graves. The soundtrack of her life was an unheard classic. She was only 16 and carried a Pandora’s box weighed with burdens. The hero of her life was joyfully struck by Caucasian fiendish glees on Almerino Avenue, causing her to carry her papi's vendetta and commitment thou shalt not be friend of 'blanco' man.
The only transport that was able to drop her to class her on time was her pimp, Paquito. He was her ATM and green machine distributor, and she hustled his green little soldiers to their customers or else her madre and little sister would have to hustle to pay the dilapidated rent's payments. The day finally came when the violent rains would overcast Sunshine causing the possibility of 7
death's butterflies to kiss her maternal instincts away to rest.
Billy, her best friend, now moans by the door, quietly playing a solitary game of tic tac toe on her skin with a razor. She rubbed her madre's head and called to her. As she felt a lack of pulse, her heart began to beat at a nascar racing car rate, she dropped her Gucci purse, and screamed in tears, screaming 'Jesus', shaking up her madre's second hand wheel chair , resting her head near her mother's bosom. Her little sister, so innocently sleeping as a lamb, was unable to be awoken by the disadvantage that would reverse their soundtrack. Sunshine slept near the wheelchair in denial of her mother's death, carried her younger sister and her items to spend the day, until she was able to figure out a plan. When she headed to school, she immediately headed to the bathroom regardless of her orders of approximation examination. She curled on the floor of a bathroom cubicle, and recited Psalm 23 in Spanish, as she began to lick the bathroom floor. The insanity could not have been without hold no more. A violent sphere of fiendish madness suffocated her brain and blew her sanity into a different dimension. Her sister now visits her sister in a classroom designed space, with a pencil and calculus textbook adjacent her bedside floor. She hugs her sister, every visit, however hugging in a straight jacket, was sometimes uncomfortable for a 7 year old. When her classmates were informed, a still, emotional message sent unusual shivers done their spines with unpleasurable Goosebumps. I prayed Jehovah see as the progression of chapters of our calculus syllabus, the chapters of the sorrowful occurrences our fallen classmates have been engulfed by. 8

"Trust" the action that can either make a relationship stronger or break it down to shreds. How many of us go through life wishing that we can trust that certain someone? How many of us DO trust but are secretly being lied and opposed to? Then there's the other half, the fact that trust doesn't exist in their relationship but find it fit to live in denial, pretending everything is all "Honky Dory" when its more "World War". For this simple banter of rhetoric questions I should probably state that a relationship does not necessarily mean boyfriend and girlfriend or husband and wife partnerships. It can also be a family relationship, a friendship or even a business relationship. All of which, lack of trust can cause to crumble like the Berlin Wall, either gradually or instantaneously. If life is made up of relationships and trust is the glue that holds those relationships together, I guess it's safe to say "trust is the glue of life". During the course of life, don't we always desire assurance, peace of mind and crystal clear certainty towards day to day interactions? With lack of trust these desires are solely out of reach and can hinder future relationships because of developing trust issues. One must be fond of people and trust them and be trusted if one is not to make a mess of life. If you cannot trust your partner, then your partner has no respect for you, themselves or the relationship. But
take note this only applies if your partner gives you a reason not to trust them. Please don't go creating reasons for you not to trust your partner because that my friend is another topic. Provoked paranoia is not the answer. It is important to have a trustworthy relationship because living in disloyalty, denial, jealousy and cheating is not the slightest bit healthy for you nor the relationship. If a person is not to be trusted the how on earth can you work with or love them? A relationship is like a house, there is no use for it if the foundation is unstable...obviously; lies and uncertainty allows it to be destined for failure twice as much as a normal relationship. To say the least, one will not believe the complications harbouring trust issues can have only not on life but present and future kinships as well. Trust issues can even cause anxiety and even bad cases of depression and that my friend "aint no joke yo..."
may take years to generate itself, the rewards of living a trustworthy, loyal and stress free relationship are always fruitful. One must always look for things to build or rebuild trust in a relationship or kinship, not look for things deliberately break it down. Always remember trust is a must if you want to fulfil trustworthy relationships in certainty.
Trust is a vital ingredient in any recipe for a good relationship. It might be sometimes a huge risk and in most instances a major plus. Although it

Women and men alike both deserve respect. It is something that is earned not demanded; you can never rush being respected or want respect overnight. It takes time, time to grow and blossom. In any healthy relationship, respect is extremely important. There isn’t a single person that likes being disrespected? Respecting yourself as an individual helps you to respect others for who they are. Therefore in turn respecting your partner for who they are. If your partner does most of the talking without waiting to hear your opinion or your view then they don’t regard your opinion as an individual which turns out to be disrespectful.

Letters to Lou Do I love myself? Do I forgive myself? I can’t even answer those questions because I cannot even find myself. I lost me when I committed to you and even after you left I still don’t know where to look to find myself, do I even still exist? Or am I too just a memory like everything of importance in my life? Where did my voice go? Where did my smile go? Where did my faith go, better question where did I go and why am I still there and not here where I should be? I want to run away from the pain I want to forget the hurt and resume life where I left it. I do not know how. Everything is so different now, even I am different now. I feel like I am on the outside looking in on my life, screaming from the side-lines “Don’t do it, you’re making a big mistake” Can a person’s entire life be a mistake? Can one person make so many bad choices that their entire existence has been nothing but a test run? Nah! Everything happens for a reason and things happen in your life only for a season. We need to learn the seasons of our life. I think I need the met office to help me because I been in winter for the past five years, I need some sun shine, save me the rain. I have had enough, direct me on the path to spring and I will follow. I do not expect it to be easy, but I do expect it to have progress. Or will every experience in my life be just like you? Slow and painful, never making any sense and always leaving me stranded with no backup plan? That’s the thing about taking a leap of faith, you never know if when you leap if someone will catch you or if you will fall flat on your face. There is no safety net so unless you are willing to accept the consequences head on then don’t leap. I wish I knew then what I know now, but then if I did know, I would not have need to experience it, so therefore I would not have learnt from it and then I could not have shared this message with you, so you see everything servers a purpose and it all happens for a reason. The lesson to be learnt is this: Take your time if you are not sure what to do, but always be confident in your choices and believe in your decisions and even if you make a mistake do not beat yourself up over it, life is a learning process, so don’t look at it as failing , see it as your living because every mishap of today is your safety rail for tomorrow and it does not make you different, it just makes you human, better yet it makes you alive because even angles learn to fly. 16
Loyalty, commitment, honesty, trust and communication are the base to every good relationships and most females sometimes even men also look at these aspects in a companion, let's forget for one second about the appearances, looks and money but instead let's go into what's really necessary in a good relationship. Why most men and am sorry for being so rough and I may seem to have some sort of anger towards men but please don't get me wrong I don't hate men just dislike the way society has made you all turn into the new definition of the word man. Whatever happened to good values, in staying focused in one woman being loyal to them now I know I know some women have done the same, the whole cheating game we have all been through that but why must we follow the crowd and

As you walk on the avenue you will see more than one sign for El Pecos, you will ask yourself: what’s so great about this place that they need more than one location? As the old saying goes, “don’t knock it till you try it,” And try it you must. In our time of recession prices who would have thought that you can get great quality for next to nothing in price. As you enter expect to see a line, but note that the line moves so quickly it’s like you jus float your way through. Once you join the line, you will receive your gloves in preparation to take your own food.....YES ITS SELF SERVE! You pick what you what, and how much of it you want. I know you are thinking sure “pick what you want....let me pick the price too nah?” Truth is that after you have parcelled off your meal and disposed of your gloves you will arrive to your next step. Weight, yes! They weigh your box and base your price on your weight of your box and not its contents individually so when I tell you value for your money, I’m not kidding. For sweet fried plantains, cassava, fries, bbq chicken, fried chicken, stewed pork and mashed potatoes I paid $TT45, and with drink $TT45. Trust me when I say nowhere in Trinidad you can get that, and the food is delicious, pure flavour and goodness, the ambience is lovely and the eating areas very cool outdoor setting and you can have your meal under an umbrella at one of the tables while you take in some good trini culture. When I tell you it’s a dining experience you cannot afford to miss out on, I’m not joking, so with that being said visit them today, for an amazing experience that will leave both your belly and pocket happy.

the way to the back at $250.00 a ticket), VIP (In the middle at $ 400.00 a ticket) and the VVIP aka The MTV Zone, which was directly in front of the stage (at $900.00 a ticket). Alongside that section, was the Red Zone, the most controversial section of the night; This area was for parents and children and even though they did not pay the same $900.00 price for their ticket, they too were near the stage and just a portion of it, could touch the stage as well. This made most patrons unhappy, because they found it unfair that people, who paid $250 and their kids $100, should not have the same experience as them.
.............those where the words that sent the crowd crazy as she came up on stage. In case you had been living under a rock, the above is the beginning of Itty Bitty Piggy, the smash hit off of Trinidadian born, American based rapper Nicki Minaj’s hit mix tape, “Beam me up Scotty”. And the first verse of the first rap of the night that she performed at “Localize It”, the concert, held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, October 30th 2011 in Trinidad. As the night kicked off, there were performances from other local artists and a fashion show featuring some of Trinidad’s best designers, but things got really heated when Ms. Minaj came up on stage....Just the beat of her hit single sent the crowd in an uproar sending teenage boys and girls plummeting toward the stage. The concert was divided into sections, general, (All

Truth be told apart from the geography both sections were different, the MTV zone, as its name hints, had MTV Camera filming them. They had some of Trinidad’s best of the best photographers taking their pictures, every blog, and publication that was established in Trinidad was there. Everyone who performed that night hung out in the crowd when they finished. Everybody who was anybody was there, and the ambience was nice. The section was filled with Lots of great food and drinks that represented our culture, and it was all for free, their security was amazing, and it was not ram packed so there was sufficient breathing room, and only there you could be directly in front or on the stage or near it, so with that being said, that $900 was nothing to a true Nicki Fan for what they Got. As she performed all her hit verses from all the tracks she have been featured on such as, Monster, by Kanye West...or Dutty Love by Sean Kingston, the crowd sang harmoniously with her, on every verse to every song and as she sang her hit records “Your Love” and “Right Through Me” off
her soon to be released album Pink Friday, the crowd went nuts. Complete insanity showing lots of love and dedication to her music singing word of word in time with her. Girls trying to climb up on stage and dudes reaching for a touch from the superstar had the security on point. Nicki’s body guard really did what his title entails as he guarded her body. In typical Nicki fashion, there was the giving of t-shirts and the signing of boobs, as she said herself in Itty Bitty Piggy “I keep a bad bit*ch let me sign ya boobs.” And Signed she did, girls were blessed with her initials on their bosoms and guys on their hands. “ This part of the show is very special to me, it’s where I sign all my Barbie’s boobs and all my Ken’s hands....lets go, where’s my marker?”, said the rapper. After the shirts were given and the signatures where completed, it was on to the next item on her list, which was to see a true Trini wine. Finally! Fans were able to go up on Onika Tanya Maraj (born December 8, 1984),better known by her stage and show their stuff. The stage name Nicki Minaj, is an American Rapper and Singer-songrapper handpicked boys and girls writer signed to Young Money Entertainment with distribution from to come up and show her how it’s Universal Motown. It was a night to remember, I enjoyed it with treats, one was a preview of “Roman’s Revenge” some of my best friends and even some new ones the next tract to drop off her Pink Friday album. And and I can truly say I will never forget the day Nicki she also gave hope. The rapper claimed she never came home. been to Trinidad for a carnival and she plans to be here for carnival 2011, where she will have a full concert, with costume changes and all the songs 27

As we approach the end of October, we are bombarded by scary decorations, outrageous costumes and invitations to the spookiest of parties, WHY? It's Halloween! This festival was primarily celebrated by the US along with other northern countries, but how did the celebration start in Trinidad? I am aware that residents of the West for instance celebrated it since the early 70's because those areas are full of residents who migrated from northern continents but now the festival is National! With every store commercializing the festival, from the bumble-bee costume to the french maid, skulls to doctors and every popular club in the land hosting a costume gala with prizes for the Best. Is Halloween becoming part of the Trinbago Culture? If so Why isn't mentioned in the national Calender? Does the nation understand the significance of the Halloween celebration in terms of Religion and Superstition? Or has the Media just infiltrate the celebration in our minds as something "cool" and the opportunity to play Dress up and Disguise? 29

The less time young people have to focus on negative and the more they can on the positive then the better our society will be. I contribute by creating one of a kind pieces not found anywhere else in the world, I am in every sense of the word couture.
