SOLUMIN® Solar/LED Light Systems by ICON Shelter Systems Inc. provide years of worry-free light solutions for new and existing open structures. Durable encapsulated LED lights are vandal-resistant and long lasting, requiring minimal maintenance.
A well-lit structure is necessary to maintain security. The photos below illustrate the difference only two 7-watt LED lights can make in a 36’ shelter. In the photo on the upper left, there are no lights installed in the shelter
(there really is a shelter there!). In the upper right you can see the light provided by one 7-watt LED light. In the lower right, two 7-watt LED lights are installed, one facing up and one facing down. Two 7-watt LED lights can be powered by the electricity generated by the photovoltaic panel for up to 72 hours without recharging.

PHOTOVOLTAIC PANELS Sunlight is converted to direct current electricity using panels composed of solar cells containing photovoltaic material. Silicon solar cells are either monocrystalline or polycrystalline photovoltaic format. Operating temperatures are from -40°F to 185°F. Power outputs vary from panel to panel based on materials and size. POWER STORAGE Direct current electricity from the solar panel(s) is stored in 12 volt sealed valve regulated gel lead acid type, rechargeable battery(ies). Maximum Power Point Tracker (MPPT) 12 amp/200 watt controller with dusk to dawn or 6 hour operation. Overcharge protection, thermal protection and surge protection. Load function utilizes the output of the solar panel to determine when dusk is for turning on luminaries and when dawn is for turning off luminaries. Battery and controller are encased in a steel housing that is attached to the frame of the structure. LED LIGHTS The LED lights are set in a die-cast aluminum low profile case with electrical grooves on the back side to allow for the electrical wiring. The 7-watt lights utilize low power multichip CREE LED’s. All systems come with Optical Grade Epoxy (OPE) that encases the LED’s for vandal resistance. LED lights are suitable for operation in a temperature range from -22°F to 113°F and features an IP67 enclosure rating.
SOLUMINTM is ideal for ICON’s Trail SeriesTM shelters, which are often installed in remote locations along biking and hiking trails. These small shelters require only one photovoltaic panel, one battery and controller, and one 7-watt LED light. Standard manufacturer’s two year warranty on entire solar powered lighting system and the following various levels of coverage for individual components:
1. Luminaries have a standard 5 year warranty.
2. Batteries have a standard 3 year warranty.
3. Controllers have a standard 2 year warranty.
4. Solar panels have a standard 5 year warranty on materials: a. 12 year warranty on 90% power output. b. 25 year warranty on 80% power output.
