About Peninsula School of Art
PENINSULA SCHOOL OF ART: BUILDING COMMUNITY THROUGH THE VISUAL ARTS
For over 100 years, Door County has been known as a haven for artists, creatives and art appreciators; and Peninsula School of Art (PenArt) is at the center of this vibrant arts community. Founded in 1965, PenArt is dedicated to the belief that everyone deserves access to the arts—and each of us has the potential for artistic expression. Our exceptional education programs, exhibits, and events open doors for curious minds of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to learn, discover and explore through the visual arts. For the first thirty years, PenArt was a summer-only school. In 1998, five new studios and the landmark Guenzel Gallery were completed, allowing us to offer yearround arts programming. Since then, our programs have grown exponentially. Our adult workshop program - which typically runs from June through October - includes offerings in nearly 20 different fine art media, from oil painting to bronze casting and digital photography. Students and faculty travel from all 50 states to attend and lead our programs. 0ur children and teen workshop program participation has increased 40% and serves children ages three and half to seventeen. cont.
