The Accelerated Program is designed for students who have earned a non-nursing baccalaureate degree and are drawn to the nursing profession through advanced study at Penn Nursing. Students enrolled in the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing Accelerated Program are ambitious, inquisitive, and diverse. Penn Nursing has a deep focus on global health, with myriad opportunities to study all over the world. Study Abroad Programs Botswana, Israel, Honduras, Spain, and Thailand are a few of the countries where Penn Nursing students have the opportunity to study abroad. Nursing students are encouraged to explore a full range of study abroad programs, including clinical practice at a government clinic in Botswana, and psychiatric mental health and community health in India. Through Penn’s Nursing Global Health Affairs Office, students can take advantage of unique opportunities to make a profound difference in maternal and infant care delivery in Haiti, where the infant mortality rate is astoundingly high. The School of Nursing is committed to fostering strategic partnerships for developing nursing science that effectively addresses local and global challenges to health, including health disparities. Semester, summer, and independent study opportunities are available. Students have 24-hour worldwide assistance and emergency services through Penn’s affiliation with International SOS.
Center for Global Women’s Health
Global Nursing and Health Care Minor
The Center for Global Women’s Health (CGWH) is a unique interdisciplinary collection of faculty and students who are dedicated to making a measurable impact on women’s health issues around the world. Members collaborate on women’s health scholarship, education, and clinical practice.
Social justice is the underlying focus, with research programs designed to promote the well-being of women and girls. Research concentrations are in the following areas:

In response to society’s growing needs to address global health threats and challenges, Penn Nursing has designed a specific Global Nursing and Health Care Minor for master‘s and post-master‘s students. Each student selects a geographical area of focus in this four-course concentration, which provides a deep understanding of the core dimensions of global health.

The relationship between the mentor and mentee is a rich, mutually rewarding collaboration that supports students throughout their academic and professional careers. All Penn Nursing students have a faculty advisor working closely with them to help develop their skills, nurture their interests, and engage in dialogue about the current developments in the nursing profession.
The Helene Fuld Pavilion for Innovative Learning is Penn Nursing’s unique, state-of-the-art educational center. This 7,000-square-foot space is equipped with the latest technology. The state-of-the-art interactive mannequins breathe, cry, and respond just like reallife patients. Students gain practical knowledge and experience in a multitude of simulated care settings including home, outpatient, and hospital. In this challenging environment, students safely test their skills, efficiency, and diagnostic abilities.

Penn Nursing offers 15 master‘s specialties, flexible degree options, and unique joint degrees with other University of Pennsylvania schools, such as the MSN/MPH and MSN/MBE.

Hillman Scholars Program in Nursing Innovation This unique BSN-to-PhD program educates the nursing scientist who has a passion for creating innovative solutions to health issues facing vulnerable patients and populations. Students selected for this highly competitive program receive scholarship support.
Whether interested in nurse anesthesia, midwifery, pediatric oncology, or healthcare administration, there are 15 specialties to choose from, taught at the highest level by the top nurse educators and clinicians in the country.

Health Promotion
enn Nursing researchers are conducting studies to decrease the P spread of STDs and HIV among diverse populations. enn research is helping empower young women who are the P victims of sexual and physical abuse. enn Nursing researchers are creating innovative applications for P hand-held devices directly linked to individual health.
