Press Fest returns this fall

The West Kootenay Permaculture Coop (WKPCo-op), the folks behind Kootenay Food and the Slocan Park Community Hall have combined efforts to bring you one fun filled day in the beautiful Slocan Valley. The WKPC is bringing back their beloved events Pickle Palooza and Press Fest and combining them with the Slocan Park Community Hall’s Community Fun Day! Mark Sunday, September 24, 10 am – 4 pm on your calendar and head to the Slocan Park Community Hall! Pickle Palooza is a canning contest that is sure to create some jovial competition amongst canners both experienced and new. This event was held twice several years back and it was a wonderful success both times. We have so many incredible food preservers here in the Valley, so much so, that it is part of the very fabric of our communities. If you don’t want to enter the contest you can do a tasting ballot for $2 and sample and vote on all the entries from noon until 1 pm. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Patrova (Pat) Payne. Pat died peacefully at her home in Telkwa BC. She will be dearly missed by her sons Martin (Wilma), and Charles (Danka), her grandkids Tina, Michael, Peter and Carmen, and her eight great-grandchildren.
