Kaslo is buzzing with the excitement of our May Days celebration. Every year at this time since 1892 our sleepy little town wakes up! The first event to mark the dawn of summer and Queen Victoria's birthday took place one year before the Village of Kaslo was incorporated as The City of Kaslo, making 2019 the 128th consecutive year celebrating May Days in Kaslo. There’s so much to do and take in! Both Saturday and Sunday, spectators at Logger Sports are in for thrills as they watch

the amazing focus and athletic skills of the competitors. In Vimy Park you can stroll through an outdoor market, enjoy some ‘home cooking’ from the food trucks while you listen to live music, or take in a slo-pitch game. There are old-fashioned games for the kids and a clown too. Take a helicopter ride and get a bird's eye view! Bigger and even better every year, the Show and Shine on Front Street is an amazing spectacle of unique and rare cars and antique engines.

Monday morning is a great time to pick up local plants at the Garden Festival at the top of Front Street while you wait for the parade to start. Then tag along with everyone down to Vimy Park to watch the most beloved event of Kaslo May Days: the Maypole dance. Special thanks, as always, go to the parent volunteers, teachers and musicians who give up their time to support this tradition. It is good to know that the dance is well supported to continue for another 128 years!

As much as we love our fur babies, and want to take them everywhere, they are not welcome at the crowded public venues over May Days. Thank you for your consideration.
After the parade on Monday, the traditional May Pole Dance will be performed in Vimy Park by grade 1 and 2 students from JV Humphries School. The dancers this year are: Westin East, Ronan Dube, Brennan Barschel, Nina Glickman, Emma Gillies, Trey Dufort, Benjamin Brown, Lola Willott, Ella Kinnear, Onyx McKarmic, Tenley Mortensen, Dominik Radomski, Tyson Austin, Hayden Reyden, Ethan Coulman, Kaeda Dube, Alex Allaire. This ancient spring tradition is directed by Rielle Oswald and the accompanying musicians are directed by Terry Marshall.
