Rose Cann closes doors on concession at Kaslo’s winter recreation facility.
The Kaslo and District Arena regrets to announce that after many successful years Rose Cann is ending her association with the Concession at the facility. A recent attempt to find enough grant funding to bring the concession up to code unfortunately failed. The actual cost to upgrade the facility turned out to be 3x greater then anticipated, putting the renovations out of reach. The lack of venting at the concession was deemed a dangerous fire hazard, and equipment was removed at the insistence of the engineer. The Kaslo Arena and Curling Boards recognize Rose’s great disappointment in the changes she endured this past season, despite which she found various workarounds and continued serving her well loved menu. The Boards are required to strictly enforce the recommendations of the fire marshal. All those associated with the facility will miss Rose and her cooking and wish her the very best in the future. You may call me Miss Marble. A little description: I’m a very beautiful young lady, not even two yet, who came to the shelter with my two kittens, Ginger and Scooter. Since my arrival I have gotten along well with the other cats. I can be a little bit nervous around people that I don’t know, but if you give me a chance to get to know you, you’ll see I’m very cuddly. If you think I’m a good fit for your family please visit or call the Nelson BC SPCA at 250-352-7178.

WRITING A CLASSIFIED AD THAT WORKS! • Put yourself in the buyer’s shoes. What details would you want to know about an item you were interested in buying? • Include the brand name (manufacturers spend millions promoting the name and enhancing the image of their products, so take advantage of it). Would you rather buy a refrigerator or a Frigidaire? • List the item’s best features and what makes your item different from others in the same category. (Remember, the more you tell, the clearer picture a potential buyer gets, making it easier for you to sell.) • Take time to research pricing for your article so that you price it reasonably (overpriced items may not receive calls). • Include your phone number and the best times to call. • Ask for the sale...one gentleman put “BUY THIS CAR!” in his ad and was pleasantly surprised by the response to his ad!
