Christina Christina is a 1 year old torti that came in to the shelter with her litter of six kittens. They were found in a box on the side of the road. Church hosts Homecoming

St Andrew’s and St George’s Anglican Church in Trail will recognize Sunday, September 17 as its Homecoming Sunday and invites the community to come home to St Andrew’s. For over 100 years, this community of faithful pioneers has been gathering and worshipping together. Many have left but are not forgotten – absent friends are still members of the St. Andrew and St. George’s family. Everyone is invited to come and join in, see who’s here, see if there is something new since last time. Past registry books and memorial books will be on display, and a slide show will be shown with photos from the archives. A service of music and sharing of memories will be followed by refreshments and visiting old (and new) friends. Joe Hill Coffee House is about to launch another season of community-based, family-friendly entertainment in Rossland. Columbia Basin Trust provides $900,000 this year through its new Energy Retrofit Program. Twenty-five buildings in the region, with over 500 affordable housing units, will be more energy efficient following the first intake of Columbia Basin Trust’s new Energy Retrofit Program. A total of 17 non-profit societies will receive support for energy retrofits ranging from extra insulation to new HVAC (heating, ventilating and air-conditioning) systems. Grants vary from a few thousand dollars to just over $100,000 and will help improve the sustainability of over 500 affordable housing units located in 13 Basin communities. The Trust is working with the BC Non-Profit Housing Association and BC Housing to deliver the program. The Trust announced the new $2-million program in March 2017, which helps provide energy conservation upgrades for affordable housing in the Basin. The second grant intake will be in early 2018. Montrose Card Club

The Montrose Card Club is starting again! We are a small group of card players who play cribbage and whist every second Monday night in the winter months at the Montrose Hall. Did I say winter? It will be here soon. The first day of the Card Club was on Monday, September 11, where cards started at 7 pm and doors opened at 6:15 pm. Coffee and snacks are provided. We are looking for more players to round out our group. Most of us are seniors, but pre-seniors are welcome. Come join us for fun and socializing. There is a charge of $2.50 per player to cover the cost of hall and prizes. The dates for this year are: September 11 (our grand opening), September 25, October 10 (please note that we’re gathering on a Tuesday because of Thanksgiving on Monday), October 23, November 6 and 20, December 4 and 18.
