MY TRUTH

365 days of red

It’s a new year and while every day last year, I wore red, I assure you there won’t be a repeat. And to those who contributed to my wardrobe, well, don’t stop, get it, get it! Just kidding. I appreciate those who sent me red outfits from across town and around the country. It was fun, but there was also a message to the madness, if you know what I mean. Which brings me to my truth. I chose to wear red for 365 days as I celebrated 40 years of being a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The free community event is in conjunction with the City of Dallas’ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day celebration. The expo will be open immediately following the historic annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day parade in South Dallas. “Americans are constantly bombarded with content about healthy

Healthy Living Expo and Don’t Believe the Hype Foundation. “This family-friendly expo provides the perfect opportunity for people to start the New Year off right by learning the proper methods to be healthy physically mentally, spiritually, financially, socially and holistically.” Ms. Smith said she is pleased organizers were able to embrace a healthy program that is beneficial and educational. The expo will feature “Friendship-West Baptist Church presents the Pastor’s 31-Day Health Challenge.” “I contacted Dr. Haynes (senior pastor) and told him I wanted to be included,” said Ms. Smith. “We have to address the health

Williams Chicken’s annual Change for Change campaign, funded by its customers, makes this community celebration possible. The company, under the leadership of founder Hiawatha Williams, takes
