MY TRUTH

By Cheryl Smith Publisher

Chuck D, of the rap group Public Enemy, has to be one of the great minds of our time! A consummate professional and thought-provoking deep thinker with great work ethic; he is phenomenal. I also consider him a friend. I picked him up from the airport once during a visit to Dallas, and I told him I had a stop to make because it was payday. When I arrived at the building that housed Service Broadcasting - the parent company of K104, KKDA-AM and KRNB, Chuck came inside with me. Always gracious, he greeted folks and chatted while I took care of my business. When he was in the company of those who were in a position to effect change at the station, Chuck urged them to be kinder to the locals. He wanted locals to be showered with love on the way up, instead of waiting until they hit big time and then jumping on the bandwagon. Which brings me to my truth. Dallas has so many smart and talented people — people who are going places. I’ve always prided myself on being able to see the good in people. I also see the bad and ugly, but that’s another story for another day. Anyway, I applauded

Chuck for looking out for those who don’t have. It’s amazing we live in a world where the person who could purchase the entire restaurant is offered a free meal but not the person who doesn’t have a pot or a window (you get my point?) Well, I want to shine a spotlight on three locals: Imaj, VirLinda, and Ptosha. Before I go any further, I must say, these darlings are bonafide, so book them. Come to them with an offer and make sure you put your money where your mouth is. They are proven, they’ve done the favors and it’s time for them to get paid! Now Imaj is a darling! Sure her father is actor Phillip Michael Thomas of Sparkle and Miami Vice fame, her Momager is the talented, smart and beautiful Kassandra, and her Godmother is none other than the beautiful activist/actress/ author/ambassador Attallah Shabazz; but her claim to fame is her singing (in five different languages —English, Spanish, German, Chinese and French), writing, designing, instrument playing, directing, composing, and on and on. Imaj is a country-western singer with a beautiful voice.

After appearing in The Color Purple, as the Church Lady Darlene and Shug Avery (us) in Oprah Winfrey’s The Color Purple national tour, she returned to Dallas where she continues to sing and star in plays. VirLinda has performed for President Barack Obama at the White House and most recently she appeared with another local sensation, Dareia Tolbert, in the hit play, Soul Purpose. come to you and tell you how great someone close to you is or are you seeing the greatness? Sure some say familiarity breeds contempt. That is sad. During a visit to the nation’s Capitol, I watched as people seemed to part the waters for U.S. Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson. At home I hear people saying “we need term limits” or criticizing with blanket statements that provide no context or research. In Washington DC, the only other persons I saw getting any real attention were senior legislators (like Mrs. Johnson), or the young Kennedy legislator (yeah, you know of THE Kennedys!) There are places where seniority is respected and actually necessary! It’s important to note that just like when you are looking for a leader, you should look in the mirror; you shouldn’t overlook the greatness that is right there amongst you! Try pulling back on the negativity and counter by showing love, volunteering support, giving a shoutout or happy face emoji — something that shows that your heart is capable of loving. A good friend would always ask, “Are you capable of being lovable?” If you are you will see and appreciate more of what is offered during your lifetime.

Let the dancing begin?

The most recent unemployment rate report seems to contain nothing but good news. The overall unemployment rate is down to 3.8 percent, the lowest that it has been since 2000. The Black unemployment rate, at 5.9 percent, is lower than it has ever been. With the white unemployment rate at 3.5 percent, the ratio between Black and white unemployment, usually stuck at around 2, is below 1.7 percent, a historic low. While it is risky to make conclusions about Black unemployment, given monthto-month fluctuations (the last time 45 crowed about low Black unemployment rates in January, the number shot back up the following month by nearly a full percentage point), it is clear that the employment situation for African Americans has improved in the 500 or so days since 45 took office. To be sure, much of the improvement in the labor market can be attributed to the Obama recovery. President Obama put everything in place to ensure that the labor market improved. Still, it would be churlish to deny that some 45-inspired policies may have improved the employment situation. With economic growth nearing 3 percent, and with business confidence stable, more than 220,000 new jobs were created in May. Tax cuts have encouraged businesses to add employees; the fact that wages have increased by more than

2 percent suggests some slight tightening in the labor market. Good news, right? So why aren’t workers dancing? Black teens have hardly any reason to dance. Although the unemployment rate among Black teenagers

likely that the lower unemployment rate for teens will sustain through the summer unless businesses are strongly motivated to hire part-time and temporary workers this summer. Teens have no reason to dance, but what about the

dropped nearly ten percentage points, from 29 percent to 19.6 percent, a big part of this drop is contained in the fact that fewer teens are either working or looking for work. A year ago, there were 788,000 Black teens in the labor market, but the number had dropped to 681,000 last month. Thus, fewer teens were working last month (547,000) than a year ago (579,000). Even though many teens have dropped out of the labor market because they don’t think they can find work, it is likely that more will look for work this summer. It is extremely un-

rest of us? The unemployment rate for Black women is at an amazing low of 4.7 percent, more than two full percentage points lower than a year ago. The labor force participation of Black women is down slightly – there are about as many Black women in the labor force now as a year ago, despite population growth. Additionally, 45’s threats to cut the federal workforce, not yet substantially realized, will have a disproportionate effect on Black women, since about 20 percent of all Black women work for the federal government. If you combine

7

this with the threats to the social safety net, not yet realized, but anticipated, one can understand why few are dancing, even though the growth music is playing. After having passed massive tax cuts that will only increase the deficit, House Republicans are talking about budgetary “clawbacks”. Just this week, they have discussed cutting the food stamps by requiring more work of those who receive SNAP funding (a sizeable portion of SNAP recipients work but earn so little that they qualify for food assistance) and frozen some unspent funds from the child health program. House Speaker Paul Ryan, in his few remaining months in leadership, has pledged “entitlement reform” including Medicaid and Social Security cuts. Even with lower unemployment and modest wage growth, these “entitlement reforms” bode ill for many workers. Many would suggest that we simply celebrate the good news – lower unemployment rates and more new jobs are certainly worth noting. But some of the gains are shaky, not solid. Some are a function of people dropping out of the labor market. And some people’s economic condition will not improve, especially with anticipated policy changes. While aggregate numbers look great, some people aren’t dancing because they haven’t been invited to the party.

Superfly remake is pretty good!

The remake of Superfly is a highly stylized film directed by X. He got his start as an intern for trailblazing video director Hype Williams and he’s since directed videos for the hottest Hip Hop artists like Drake, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Wiz Khalifa. Hence the feel of a long form rap video. Everything in the movie is “Superfly.” From the cars to the clothes to, even, the weapons in the movie… everything leaves the audience wondering, “where did they get that?”

While based on the original 1972 movie, the new version is a completely modern version of the same scenario. Priest, played by Trevor Jackson, is a street wise and highly respected cocaine dealer who’s trying to get out of the game with one more big score.

“I’m gonna get mine.” P r i e s t ’s nemesis in the movie are an all white wearing rival gang called “Snow Patrol”, who wear parkas and puffy white coats in Atlanta. (That made me scratch my head.) And in this new version Priest is such a “pimp” that he has not one, but two female companions who are at his beckon call anytime he wants to be pleasured.

While the 1972 movie with Ron O’Neal reflected the political times of the day, the new version is purely fluff, with no kind of anti-establishment message or anything resembling a “social concise.” The new Superfly film is just about

However, while the movie is misogynistic, it’s one of the most real gangster films to come out since Scarface. Crime bosses are not nice guys. They aren’t gentlemanly towards women and they sell drugs and they kill peo-

ple. That’s why they are called “criminals.” In Superfly Priest uses his wits to battle a rival gang, the police and to outsmart a Mexican cartel drug lord. He is a “Superfly” dude. The movie is rated R and earns its R rating for violence, gun play and strong sexual content. Please leave the kids at home for this one! On my “Hollywood Popcorn Scale” I rate Superfly a LARGE.

QUIT PLAYIN’

WHIP Cracking Sessions! “The irony of Mr. Sessions’ nomination is that, if confirmed, he will be given a life tenure for doing with a federal prosecution what the local sheriffs accomplished twenty years ago with clubs and cattle prods.” #CorettaScottKing, 1986 WHIP is my new acronym for “White Identity Politics,” and Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions along with his boss, Donald J. Trump, are in full campaign mode. My mother says it would be a bridge too far to channel comedian Chris Rock who used the pejorative; “Cracker Ass Cracker.” But if my dad was still living, he would approve. Daddy always referred to Martin Luther King’s nemesis, Bull Connor that way. Bull used clubs and cattle prods in Alabama; Sessions adapted to technology and manufactured a concentration camp for children. Bull Connor was a Sunday school teacher and now Jeff Sessions is blaming his mistreatment of migrant children on the Holy Bible. Seems like Alabama serves a different God than the one slaves met in the brush harbors and eventually in the Black Church. American slaves weren’t theologians but they knew that everybody who proclaims Christianity ain’t a Christian. In a play to force Democrats to pay for Trump’s border wall, Jeff cracked the WHIP on asylum seekers. He quoted the Apostle Paul, a converted court master of the Jewish law, to justify his position. “I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13, to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained

the government for his purposes.” His actions, when taken in totality

Jefferson Sessions and Bull Connor

have millions claiming that his use of the WHIP is not American. I beg to differ. Sessions’ actions are as American as apple pie. America ripped children from the bruised breasts of slave girls, separated them and sold their husbands on auction blocks. This atrocity lasted technically, from 1619-1865 or 246 years. In 2018 our nation will celebrate the 242nd anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. America repeated its acts of dehumanization and racial supremacy with the Native American and the Asians. There were well-supported barriers against Jewish refugees during Hitler’s Holocaust. White America has consistently exercised brutality on the poor and disenfranchised. If we could ever admit that, we could heal. Unfortunately, WHIP loyalists, and the proffers of the “American Exceptionalism” lie continue their residence in America’s 51st state; the State of denial!!! In mid-February this year, Jeff, the Keebler Company mascot; either by fate or Freudian slip, reinforced his WHIP appeal at the National Sheriffs Association quarterly round-up.

“Since our founding, the independently-elected sheriff has been the people’s protector, who keeps law enforcement close to and accountable to people through the elected process. The office of sheriff is a critical part of the Anglo-American heritage of law enforcement. We must never erode this historic office.” Jefferson’s insinuation, whether blind or blatant, that law enforcement was a legacy of the American White man, was preposterous, but profitable for WHIP. WHIP lends no responsibility to the “Children of a lesser God.” Coretta Scott King, who knew Bull Connor and Jeff Sessions, didn’t mince words about Jeff ’s intent nor his intellect. “I do not believe Jefferson Sessions possesses the requisite judgment, competence, and sensitivity to the rights guaranteed by the federal civil rights laws to qualify for appointment to the federal district court. Based on his record, I believe his confirmation would have a devastating effect on not only the judicial system in Alabama, but also on the progress we have made everywhere toward fulfilling my husband’s dream.” The same Jeff Sessions who wasn’t fit for Alabama is now the titular head of law enforcement for America. Trumpism and White identity politics have assumed reign, rule and residence in the federal government. America moved from closed fists, clubs and cattle prods to concentration camps for children. Sessions is cracking the WHIP! #QuitPlayin #StayWoke #WHIPappeal Vincent L. Hall is an author, activist and

The Cruelty Must Cease!

by Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson

The administration’s policy of indifferently dismantling and separating migrant families once they cross the southern borders of the United States is morally indefensible, psychologically damaging to children that are being brazenly taken from their mothers, and is in direct contravention to the values on which our country was founded, and pronounces. Any suggestion by United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions that the action is biblically based demonstrates a profound

misunderstanding and distortion of scripture. In fact, what is occurring is mean-spirited, short-sighted and is causing serious damage to the respect that others in the world have for the United States as a welcoming country for seekers of a better life for themselves, and their families. Thoughtful faith leaders in Texas and the nation are protesting what is being done in the name of the United States. Even conservative evangelicals such as Reverend Franklin Graham, a supporter of the president, have described separating mothers and their children as “disgraceful.” At a meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention in Dallas the organization adopted a resolution calling family unity a “pri-

ority” in a civilized society. One well-known member of the clergy at the convention said that he and his colleagues believed that migrants were made “in God’s image,” and as such deserved better treatment than that which they were receiving. The leadership of the nation’s catholic community fully agrees with its Baptist brethren. At a convention held in Florida at the same as the Dallas conclave, a gathering of Roman Catholic Bishops sharply criticized the administration’s policy. The group’s president, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo from Galveston, called families crucial to human existence. “They must stay together,” he said. While the mothers and their offspring suffer in bewilderment and pain, the president blames

13

the situation on the Democratic Party. He knows full well that is false. No administration before this one separated children from their mothers as they crossed our borders in search of American opportunities, and our way of life. The Republican Party controls the House of Representatives, the Senate and the White House. It is within their power to pass legislation that would reform our immigration policies, and stop this madness. The party in power and the White House must cease this cruelty. They can bring an end to the crying by mothers and their children whose tears are staining the soul of America.

DCCCD programs in criminal justice, public safety offer many career choices By Debra Dennis

Eric Carr’s passion for public service grew out of his own background: he was adopted by a single mother, had no father figure and felt isolated. Carr, a criminal justice student at Eastfield College, is working as the volunteer facilitator for the Dallas Junior Police Academy. His goal is to help foster a positive relationship between Dallas youngsters and police officers. Through that program, Carr helps facilitate ride-alongs that allow passengers to observe the work day of a police officer, canine interaction and other activities. He hopes to parlay his service into a full-time law enforcement career that focuses on community relations. “We can’t react to stop a crime unless the community tells us what is going on,” said Carr. “Communications has to be the focus – the community relations part.” This investment brings dialogue, friendship and mentoring, and it strengthens the community, Carr said. And it gives him a sense of where he wants to steer his career. It is important not to be tainted by pre-conceived ideas, said Carr, who is working as part of AmeriCORPS Vista, a national community service group that pairs college students with opportunities to reach at-risk youth. “Through community relations and our encounters, I would say the opportunity to work in this field is immense and very, very rewarding,” said Carr, who is 27. “Growing up, I wanted to be part of something. I was adopted. My mom was a single parent, and I needed some discipline in my life. With the absence of a father, I was looking for a mentor, discipline and guidance – and I found it. I found the tools and values they were instilling in my life. And I want to do that with these kids.” Carr’s dream criminal justice job is in community relations, but he

The median pay for police officers and detectives is $62,960, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor. It’s use in therapy, typically to recover suppressed memories or to allow modification of behavior by suggestion, has been revived but is still controversial. DEFINITION: Trump∙no∙sis Noun Sense The induction of a state of consciousness in which the (People of the United States) apparently loses the power of voluntary action and is highly responsive to suggestion (FAKE NEWS) or direction. It’s use in therapy, typically to recover suppressed memories (“LET’S MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN”) or to allow modification of behavior by suggestion, has been revived but is still controversial (“Oh Boy do I miss the good old days!”) DEFINITION: Trau∙ma∙tize

Verb Subject to lasting shock as a result of an emotionally disturbing experience or physical injury. DEFINITION: Trump∙ma∙tize Per Verb Subject to lasting shock (as a result to changing laws and rollback of policies) of an emotionally disturbing experience all schools shooting the increase of marches and demonstations or physical injury (more police shooting ssof innocent Black people and Let’s build a wall). This is a message for all black and brown people as to what the agenda of our so-called President of some United States of America. It’s important that I start this off with the definitions of the new words that exist and what’s going on behind our backs in front of our face. This message is to educate us but also prepare us, so we can unite. You see Trump was able to awaken a middle class, middle age group of people that feel they had a better life when you had a lesser one,

Ken Peterson

and it’s your fault that affirmative action, civil rights and equal rights are infringing upon their rights, and his job is to make them afraid of us and tell them we’re the blame for it. If you listen to everything he says he’s always blaming someone else for his problems. Larry Elder wrote “if Black America were a country it’d be the 15th wealthiest nation in the world.” Well that’s the message you have to leave this article thinking about. We are a nation within a nation and we need to, in the words of the famous movie producer/director Spike Lee, in his movie school daze “WAKE UP.” When we wake up we will no longer be trump∙ma∙tized and we can use the 15th wealthiest nation to

make a statement. Let’s wake up out of the trump∙no∙sis that we’re in and do what the 15th wealthiest nation can do and if we can somehow invite the Hispanic community to join us our wealth will increase by another 2.1 trillion dollars. To write this article and do nothing is a waste of time and paper, if I don’t act, so I’m doing something about what’s happening in our community and I’d like for you to join me in dialogue. So, if you’re interested in joining me for the change President Obama spoke about but never got the chance to be about, let’s meet and WAKE UP! Muhammad sounds off on Dallas housing crisis

Back with a Vengeance! By Thomas Muhammad

Nope I haven't written in a while, but after a friend brought to my attention a piece in the Dallas Morning News (many call the Dallas Morning Snooze) a “white” columnist --which is all they have since their “ethnic cleansing,” said a few things that pissed me off to the highest pissisivity! What he said could be seen as pure slander, if in fact we were that touchy. However there's one thing we’ve gotten used to is that “white” Dallas leadership will forever see "we people who are darker than blue" as impediments for their “gentrification plans” in the South Dallas - Fair Park communities. He showed a slum-looking house typical of what they believe ALL blacks should live in, completely surrounded with burglary bars. A prison! The house pictured was a Habitat for Humanity house. You know that white folks corporation providing slum-looking houses for poor black folks with new paint on them that lasts for maybe a couple of months and figure they should be satisfied. The writer then goes on to claim that the InnerCity Development Corporation (ICDC) or Diane Ragsdale

“gave away a house to a woman who had been suffering from a domestic violence situation without a thorough explanation” when in fact HUD and the city had to sign off on that transfer. I won’t go into all that happened because of sensitive

Homes built by ICDC

issues related, but you can say it was done for a greater good! Then he says, "This latest look-see (Federal Audit) takes no one by surprise and has to do with something the City Council has spent a lot of time tussling over in recent months: community housing development organizations. Those are the private nonprofits that take federal money given to the city to build homes in their communities. In this town those communities are always South of Dallas." Yeah a real hater! Forgetting that ICDC has built over 250 homes with no burglar bars! He fails to mention they've (white North Dallas) has been taking money from this pot starting with the $25 million dollar hit on those HUD funds back in the early 90s to start building "Yuppie" townhouses downtown, for decades. And none of those units were set asides for "Affordable Housing" as

the money was supposed to assist! Remember especially you young people, a home is your best way to achieve the so-called American dream, so hurry and invest before white leadership catches up. Call ICDC at 214-915-9900. These w h i t e leadership people even misuse money meant for the homeless. Their Dallas mayor found The Bridge where they stockpile homeless people a million dollars just to close--their entrance from St Louis Street to a St Paul entrance, pitiful waste of tax payer funds to please white yuppies who complained they were seeing too many homeless people in the area. Fact is they were in the area long before them and they knew that before moving in! White leadership, led by the so-called King of the black people in Dallas, Lee Kleinman, has even convinced the damn Negro city council leadership to build a Deck Park in Oak Cliff near the Dallas Zoo. Yeah they always want to use our neigh-

borhoods as play areas; forgetting a historic fact that President Barack Obama's Secretary of Transportation Ray Lahood came to Dallas and announced that they would provide $16.7 million in federal economic stimulus funds. At the time it was the largest funding for any transportation enhancement project in the state. Don't take my word for it look at the funding numbers in the box. Do you think those need-to-grow NEGROS will get that type of funds in Southern Dallas? HELL NO! And by the time you con-figure (got that from the Clampits on The Beverly Hillbillies --yuck yuck!) numbers on the cost of the Margaret Hunt-Hill Bridge you'll really go nuts! Y'all betta pay attention to this notice below and get real! "How to Fund a Park Above a Freeway A little seed money helped turn a vision for Klyde Warren Park into a beautiful reality—just like in the movies!" Bottom line is we need to continue to sleep with our fists balled up cause they always comin G! Until then the Struggle Continues...

Hubby’s out there sharing the love Ask ALMA Dear Alma, Around six months ago, I started to see clues that something was going on with my husband. I started going through his wallet and cell phone because I thought he was having an affair. I was right. I almost fainted when I found a phone in the trunk of the car with pictures of him and another woman. All of the calls were to the same number, which made me believe it was her number. I hit the button and she answered the phone. When she said hello, I hung up. I put the phone back and

didn’t tell him. I love him and am trying to keep my marriage. He hasn’t said anything about my phone call. Do you think I should mention it? My ego is just about gone and all I want to do is stay in bed. I wish I had not looked in the trunk. I do not know if I should stay or go or why I’m confused on what to do. Name withheld, Durham, N.C. Dear Anonymous, You’re not confused sweetheart, you’re heartbroken. You’re dejected, sad and depressed. Your husband is having an affair and you don’t want to confront him because you’re scared he might leave you. Let that truth simmer for a minute, then drop it.

If not addressing it is an option, learn to live with it. My question to you is, why did you go searching for what you weren’t ready to find? Should you mention it, you asked. Really? If you need me to answer you Sweetie, continue to entertain that rubber ducky in your dirty bath water. Email me back when you’re ready to pull the plug and do something about it. Let me know when you’re ready to clean up your mess, redress your problems and restore your self-worth. That’s when I’ll have amazing, life affirming advice to share. Honestly, if I took the time to answer you, you wouldn’t hear me. Cause truth-be-told, right now, on this day, you love him more than you love yourself. Alma

Lieberman makes history – Again – with Ice Cube’s BIG3 League By Dorothy J Gentry Sports Editor

It was an ordinary weekend in March. Basketball Hall-of-Famer Nancy Lieberman was home in Dallas flipping between college basketball “March Madness” games and the movie “Straight Outta Compton” which, she said, she had seen multiple times before. “My phone rings and I’m being called by the BIG3,” Lieberman recalls, marveling at the thought that she was on the phone with Ice Cube while watching a movie about him. Shortly after that initial call she joined a conference call with other BIG3 executives to discuss an opportunity to coach in Ice Cube’s 3-on-3 basketball league now entering its 2nd season. “We got on the conference call and it just worked out,” she said. “They talked about inclusion, diversity, opportunity. About wanting to give people a chance on all levels. This league, BIG3, means teamwork, opportunity and having to trust each other to get to the next level. “It was the perfect opportunity for me,” Lieberman said. “I’ve played against men, coached in the NBA, in the G-League, played 3-on-3 – Dallas’ Hoop It Up Tournament, where we won two championships. This was just a natural fit.” But what sealed the deal for Lieberman was Ice Cube himself. “Most importantly, Cube was so sincere in wanting to give players opportunities; to understand and change the culture of how people see us. It was important to him to have a qualified coach but just as important to get a chance to change the culture of professional sports. “He is not just saying it, he is doing it. It is exciting,” Lieberman continued. “I am such a fan of Ice Cube and what he is doing as a man, in the entertainment industry, as an actor, leader and more. It’s easy to get pigeonholed, he could have been just a rapper. “We get one chance in this life to make it right. He’s West Coast. I’m East Coast. And in 2018 our worlds collide. We can go through this life being life changers. We have an opportunity to bring people together. I am humbled and grateful.”

Nancy Lieberman

Lieberman will be the first female head coach in a professional men’s sports league. She will coach Team Power, assuming the coaching position vacated by Clyde Drexler who became Big 3 League Commissioner. Lieberman isn’t totally new to the BIG3, however. She joined Ball Hogs Coach Rick Barry as a guest assistant coach for Week 6 in Dallas last year during its inaugural season. “Nancy is one of the sharpest basketball minds and also one of the most competitive,” Drexler said during a conference call to announce her coaching gig. “Her experience and basketball acumen will stand out in the BIG3, which is filled with star players and coaches. I couldn’t be happier to pass her the coaching torch.” Lieberman said she relishes the opportunity to be a good role model for others and to be with people “who know I want to champion women. I am excited and expect to win.” Lieberman, a former WNBA player, also has eight years of professional coaching experience in the WNBA, NBA D-League (Texas Legends Head Coach) and NBA (Sacramento Kings Assistant Coach). She has been a broadcaster for ESPN, ABC and for the New Orleans Pelicans. The Basketball Hall of Fame presents the Nancy Lieberman Award each year to the best point guard in women’s basketball.

When the idea of adding Lieberman to the League was first raised, gender was a non-issue, BIG3 Chairman Amy Trask said during the conference call introducing Lieberman. “If you can ball, you can ball. What delighted me was Clyde’s reaction and the reaction of our players with whom Clyde spoke. None of them gave a damn about her gender. “And like me, Nancy doesn’t think about gender either. Jeff…Cube and Clyde deserve a tremendous amount of credit for that and I know that [they] would never take it or bestow it upon [themselves] so I’m doing it for [them]. Nancy has joined us and she’s not a terrific woman coach, she’s a terrific coach. That’s the manner in which all of our players, coaches, executives and founders evaluated it.” Said Lieberman: “It’s an honor and privilege for me to be a part of the BIG3 and its vision. We have former NBA players and Hall of Fame coaches who still love the game, have a deep respect for the competition, and a passion to play competitive basketball. It’s in our DNA. “Ice Cube and Jeff Kwatinetz (co-founder) have provided this unique platform for all of us. Who’s got next?!” Photos courtesy of Nancy Lieberman Charities
