KEEP ON SHOOTING WHEN THE OTHERS HAVE PACK UP
www.pentax.co.uk
WHATEVER YOUR MOTIVATION, THE PENTAX K-7 IS THERE. Life is often an outdoor activity. The variety, the energy, the light, the inspiration. No matter whether it rains or snows, or if sand or slush make the going more difficult. Don’t worry about the accessories – follow your inspiration. Wherever it takes you, the PENTAX K-7 can go too. IT GIVES A LOT AND TAKES THE TOUGH STUFF. The PENTAX K-7 is up to any challenge. At the heart of it is 90 years of PENTAX leadership in innovation and development. With the latest technology, it is exactly the right choice for the demanding photographer and it definitely doesn’t shirk from the demanding or difficult. Sturdy, weatherproof and stable: it happily supports the ambitious photographer long after the others have conceded to the elements and packed up and gone home.
SMALL, UNCOMPLICATED AND PROPERLY EQUIPPED. THERE IS NO SCENE THAT CAN’T BE CAPTURED. The best scenarios seem to present themselves when you’re least prepared. With its diminutive dimensions of only 131 x 97 x 73 mm and weighing a mere 825g, there is no reason not to have the super-compact PENTAX K-7 always at hand. But “small and uncomplicated” is not nearly enough – it is much more important that your equipment is sophisticated and provides the highest level of technical advances so that no opportunity can pass you by. The PENTAX K-7 offers you all these advantages - and more.

FINALLY, A CAMERA THAT FOLLOWS YOUR EVERY STEP AND TURN. How does it do it? The K-7 can go with you through thick and thin; rain, storm or sand. Cold weather means nothing. If it does pick up a bit of dust then sensor cleaning and dust alarm intervene. Go on. Go out and try it.
KEEP OUT! THE 126 SEALS THAT REALLY WORK. The only things that should be inside the PENTAX K-7 are your pictures. Dust, rain or mud must remain resolutely outside the camera. Not to worry: the 77 seals in the housing, 43 seals at the battery grip and 6 seals on the lenses ensure this that all the nastiness stays out.
IN CASE OF ACCIDENT: SENSOR CLEANING AND DUST ALARM. Even with all the seals intact dust can still enter the body when changing lenses. This is where the PENTAX Dust Reduction system shows its strength: the dust is loosened either automatically or whenever you feel it necessary by ultrasonic vibrations of the sensor and the loosened particles are collected in the bottom of the housing. The PENTAX “Dust Alert” signals the user when more persistent dust particles remain which cannot be shaken off. The pollution is indicated with pinpoint accuracy so that can be easily and accurately removed with the optionally available “Cleaning Kit”.
MADE VISIBLE: THERE ARE 77 SEALS (RED) PROVID I N G TOTAL PROTECTION FOR THE SENSITIVE OPTICAL A N D ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS INSIDE THE CAMERA. THERE ARE 43 SEALS ALONE IN THE BATTERY GRI P AND THE NEW WR-SERIES LENSES ARE PROTECTED WITH 6 FUR THER SEALS.
WHEN THE GOING GETS ROUGH: SHOOT. A really good image is more than “just a picture”. It leaves a lasting effect on the viewer. But sometimes the adverse circumstances in which the image is taken can also leave lasting effects on the camera. Fortunately the high-grade steel chassis and the magnesium-aluminium outer shell can take a level of abuse that would leave other cameras – and photographers – running for cover. With cold resistance of up to -10 °C you’ll have to be well wrapped up to keep up with the PENTAX K-7. THE MAGNESIUM-ALUMINIUM OUTER SHELL DELIVERS WHAT IT PROMISES: CONVENIENCE AND STABILITY.

THERE’S NO REASON TO BE AFRAID OF THE DARK. THE PENTAX K-7 IS WITH YOU. You could just snap away, but that’s not enough for demanding, serious photographers. PENTAX photographs often have a particular vision in mind, a point to convey or they’re consciously on the lookout for new angles or new impressions. The PENTAX K-7 helps to find what you’re looking for and to create your vision.
CLEARLY BETTER THROUGH THE 100% PENTAPRISM FINDER. While an electronic finder leaves you groping in the dark, the PENTAX K-7 pentaprism finder lets you work under the worst light conditions. With 100% field of view and without the well known difficulties of electronic finders.
KNOW WHAT’S COMING: REAL TIME LIVE VIEW. The newest generation of Live View offers more than viewfinder in real time. It allows you a preview of the final picture so you can experiment with various settings and try out different ideas. » Contrast autofocus automatically sets the focus in Live View » Face Recognition » Indicate the changes of the exposure values » Live Histogramme for exposure control » When desired grid lines can be superimposed over the image to facilitate composition.
BEAUTIFUL LIGHT: 77-SEGMENT METERING. With the 77-segment sensor the PENTAX K-7 is in position is to determine the optimum light balance over the entire picture. Both spot metering and centre-weighted metering are available to give you total creative freedom.
» Up to 10X magnification available in Live View
WHEN THE CIRCUMSTANCE DEMAND: HD VIDEO. The PENTAX K-7 is not just a high-quality SLR camera for demanding photographers. When necessity, desire or mood requires it is also a video camera with outstanding image quality for up to 25 minutes of recording time. » HD Video function 1280 x 720 at 30 fps. with an aspect ratio of 16:9 (or 1536 x 1024 and 640 x 416 in 2:3 format) » Built in microphone » Connection for stereo microphone » Motion JPEG (AVI) » Interesting cinematic possibilities via aperture and other control settings.

MASTERING THE HIGHEST CHALLENGES NOT ONLY NEEDS COURAGE - IT ALSO NEEDS ABILITY. PENTAX KNOW-HOW. That the PENTAX K-7 is externally stable and robust enough to meet the toughest requirements is only one of its strong points. Its “inner soul” is also more than a match for the demanding requirements of ambitious photographers. At the heart of the PENTAX K-7 are two critical components: a newly developed CMOS sensor and the new PRIME II Processor.
A STRONG TEAM: NEW SENSOR, NEW PROCESSOR. The sensor is one of the most important components of a digital camera. That’s why we’ve introduced a new 14.6 MP CMOS sensor with a 4-channel output for the PENTAX K-7. Combined with the new, faster PRIME II Processor means faster processing speed, lower noise and improved picture quality, especially at longer shutter speeds.
WHEN IT’S TIME TO GO FAST: 5.2 FRAMES PER SECOND. There are situations in which quick action is needed and a high frame rate required. That’s when the PENTAX K-7 firing at 5.2 frames per second really shines. In High Speed Shooting the K-7 can record up to 40 JPEG images or 14 RAW shots or in Lo Speed Shooting 3.3 fps in JPEG mode
NEW 4-CHANNEL CMOS SENSOR, RECORDING AREA 23.4 X 15.6MM NEW, FASTER PRIME-II PROCESSOR
until the memory is full – or 17 RAW images.
IT’S ALL ABOUT LIGHT AND DARK. WE CAN HANDLE IT. In addition to higher speeds the PENTAX K-7 also provides greater dynamic range. This new function improves image quality for brightness and shadow correction in areas of the image that would previously have been either black or blown-out. The noise has been reduced and noise reduction becomes effective from ISO 200.
GET BUSY: 100,000 SHOTS ARE WAITING FOR YOU. That sounds good. The new shutter of the PENTAX K-7, with a top shutter speed of 1/8,000 sec., is not only quieter, but also extremely durable and capable of firing over 100,000 times. » Frame rate: 5.2 fps. » Improved dynamic range » Highlight and shadow correction » Reduced noise » New, quieter shutter for a minimum of 100,000 releases 9
YOUR PENTAX K-7 WILL GIVE YOU TIME FOR THE IMPORTANT THINGS. SUCH AS THINKING ABOUT YOUR NEXT SHOT. The important things are best done immediately. You can start shooting immediately because the PENTAX K-7 allows you to start processing the image inside the camera. You can set the desired parameters before you release the shutter as well as manipulate a variety of post processing options to achieve your desired image.
A CAMERA OF FORMATS: JPEG, DNG RAW.
EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES. THE PENTAX K-7 IRONS THEM OUT.
With the PENTAX K-7, you have the opportunity to work in different file formats. The JPEG with Crop Function offers a choice of aspect ratios; 3:2, 4:3, 16:9 and 1:1. The Video Function utilises Motion JPEG (AVI). Additionally, with the press of a button you can select the lossless RAW format, either as a compressed RAW-PEF or as an uncompressed and universal RAW-DNG. You can even store your images simultaneously as both RAW and
Generally image errors can only be eliminated with the help of some laborious post processing. The PENTAX K-7 can save you the headache. The K-7 allows the removal of image defects (chromatic aberrations and

BEAUTIFULLY BRIGHT: WHITE BALANCE AND “CUSTOM IMAGE”. Do what you want – the PENTAX K-7 is good. Important parameters for the quality of the JPEG file are white balance and the “Custom Image” function. The new, expanded white balance of the K-7 now offers options for fluorescent light / artificial light and the “CTE” colour enhancement that helps For example, to capture the perfect ambiance of sunsets. For those who honed their skills using film, this is like offering the photographer a choice of different films with different characteristics. This capability means that K-7 also provides six different preferences for colour and monochrome and offers the photographer the freedom of selecting special settings for a variety of motifs. To round it all off the settings can be individually fine-tuned - for contrast, or highlight and shadow correction, for example. As stated above: the PENTAX K-7 can do it all.

distortion) right inside the camera.
THAT'S WHAT WE CALL DIVERSITY: 16 DIGITAL FILTERS WITH OVER 135 OPTIONS. Let your photographic creativity run wild. The new PENTAX K-7 provides effective support. When recording the image you have 7 different digital filters available, and an additional 16 in post processing – a selection to match the scope of your creative ambitions.
EVERYTHING IN SIGHT ON THE 3-INCH MONITOR. It’s clear: viewing your images and all functions well is important and the 3-inch monitor of the PENTAX K-7 is the answer. With 921,000 dots, it always shows you a razor-sharp picture. Moreover, it allows 1.5-times magnification of menu script up to 32-times image magnification on the screen!
11
SEE THE THINGS OBJECTIVELY. No matter your intention: objectivity does not tolerate compromise. That’s why PENTAX offers you a huge selection of compatible lenses for your PENTAX K-7, allowing you to capture your images and put your uncompromisingly creative ideas into practice.
