Elo Design: Lasse Kovanen
The elegant Elo jars and pots are beautiful to look at and a joy to use. The soft, simple round shapes make Elo perfect for cooking. And just like all Pentik ceramic products, Elo jars are made to be used – going from the oven to the freezer to the microwave and the dishwasher. Cook, serve and store casseroles and other dishes in the Elo pot. And Elo jars and pots are also great for planting! Thanks to its round shape, there’s plenty of room for roots to grow strong. Try planting the sweet pink polka dot plant in the smaller jar and use the bigger jar in a hanging basket.

Kallio Design: Anu Pentik
The soft Kallio (Cliff) series has a handmade look and feel. And if you look closely you can see the various stages in the ceramic production process. Each piece in the series is an inviting combination of nature and life in the city. With three lovely colours, pure white, delicate pink and sophisticated grey, it’s easy to mix and match pieces from the Kallio collection and other series. The Kallio collection’s characteristic lines come from the engravings on the mould, which repeat beautifully on the surface of each object. During the firing process, the glaze melts into the lines on the surface, deepening the soft design. The organic and imprecise nature of this collection reminds us of that the process of making ceramics takes many hands and a very human touch. These pieces invite us to touch and hold them close.

Kuksa Design: Anu Pentik
The ceramic Kuksa is a tribute to Finnish nature and a modern take on the traditional birch version of the kuksa used for generations in Lapland. The Kuksa cup embodies Pentik’s story: made with clay, inspired by northern nature, and constantly driven to reimagine and recreate. The versatile Kuksa can be used any way you imagine. They’re heat-resistant, which means Kuksa cups and bowls can go right into the oven. And they also look beautiful as serving dishes on the table. Come rain or shine, the sweet and yummy Metsämarja (Forest Berry) series will brighten any day. This series brings to mind the calm of the late-summer Nordic forest and the tastiest treats that nature has to offer. The watercolour print features the most beautiful berries of the North – cloudberries, cranberries and blueberries. The beloved Metsämarja collection is perfect for country cottages and city homes. Pastelli Design: Minna Niskakangas / form: Lasse Kovanen
Who says modern has to mean dark and dreary? The sweet and charming pattern in our Pastelli (Pastel) series is always on trend. And the name “Pastelli” is a nod to both how the pattern was drawn and the soft shape and colour of the design. Pastelli is one of Pentik’s most beloved patterns, inspired by the small wood sorrel flowers found in Nordic nature. The collection’s clean and clear lines are similar to another classic Pentik series, Valkea (White), designed by Lasse Kovanen. The distinctive Pastelli pattern is transferred on to the surface of the dishes before the final firing, which creates a beautiful and lasting product with a pattern that will stay just as vibrant for years to come.

Posio Design: Anu Pentik
Did you know that our factory here in Posio is the northernmost ceramics factory in the whole world? There are also more reindeer than people in Posio, and sometimes we even see reindeer peeking into our factory windows. And that’s exactly why the Posio series is decorated with reindeer that have been hand-painted onto each dish. The Posio series features the same rough, hand-finished edges and grooves as the Kallio (Cliff) and Kivi (Rock) series, which makes them fun and easy to mix and match. 28

PILVI WREATH Inspired by the Taivas installation from her Kolme tilaa (Three Rooms) exhibit at Kunsthalle (Taidehalli) Helsinki in 2017, Anu Pentik brings you smaller art pieces made for the home. The ornaments on the Pilvi Wreath are a combination of flowers and small, pearl-like ceramic pieces that have been threaded onto steel wire and wrapped into a cloud-like formation. PILVI CERAMICS Pilvi is a true Studio classic that draws in the eye and charms us with its simplicity time and time again. The light and delicate Pilvi bowls and vases feature a gorgeous, marble-like surface that invites us to touch. The white pattern is hand-painted on to the light brown base with a stencil. Did you know this about our ceramics? All Pentik ceramics are made in our very own factory in Lapland, the northernmost ceramics factory in the world. Here, it all starts with clay, the nature’s own raw material. And here, Pentik ceramic pieces are cast in moulds and formed with a shaping machine, a press or by hand. Next, the cup handles are attached by hand and the edges of each piece are rounded. Then, it’s off to be bisque fired in our 900°C kiln. Once that’s done, each piece is glazed, either mechanically or by hand dipping or spraying. Some of them are even hand-decorated, which is our factory’s specialty. After glazing and decorating, the products are fired again in a 1235-degree kiln. Any transfer images are then added by hand and the pieces are fired yet again, melting the images on to the glaze. When then firing process is complete, the bases of each item are smoothed out. Each Pentik ceramics piece passes through dozens of loving hands before it’s ready to move into a new home – maybe even yours! If treated with love and care, Pentik ceramics can be handed down from generation to generation and used and enjoyed for decades to come.

Pentik Vintage Vintage is pop! Pentik has been making ceramics for 50 years now, and in that time we’ve created countless beloved collections and the stories behind them. Today, classic Pentik series from the 1970s, like Riekko (Willow Grouse), Hiisi (Devil) and Halla (Frost), are still being used on coffee and dining tables all over Finland.
