All aboard for Alaska Take a trip through the Inside Passage and experience epic scenery that will just take your breath away.

C

onsidered the US’s last frontier, Alaska is its 49th state and home to glaciers, fjords and plenty of wildlife. Cruising along its popular Inside Passage – a wide waterway on the southeast coast – will introduce you to some of the most breath-taking shorelines in the Northern Hemisphere.

canoe. You’ll also visit Glacier Bay National Park and Sitka, the former Russian frontier outpost. If you plan to take an inland tour of Alaska, it’s wise to take the longer cruises from Vancouver to Steward (or reverse) as they enjoy more scenic routes that pass the glaciers and Panhandle in the North.

Departing from Vancouver or Seattle, most cruises take between 7 and 10 days and stop at popular ports including its capital Juneau. There, get up-close-and-personal with nature and watch whales in the bay or wild bears from the Pack Creak Brown Bear Viewing Area.

Because of its heavy winters that lock-down the waterways with ice, making it unsafe to use, cruising only happens between May and September. But, even though peak season may be considered its summer, it’s still chilly at night so pack a range of warm clothes to guard against the cold.

Did you know that Alaska has rainforests? At your next port-stop, zip-line over the treetops of Tongass National Forest in Ketchikan, a colourful fish packing port that was once considered the salmon capital of the world, or glide down a lake on a North America

To get there you’ll first need to fly to North America before joining your cruise. Have a few days to spare? Hang around Vancouver or Seattle to explore their many mountains and forests. Or take a trip into town to enjoy a thriving art and music or tech scene.
