100% Organic: From farm to factory The BBC x People Tree t-shirt collection has been made from 100% GOTS certified Organic Cotton, a highly sustainable fabric thanks to the farmers growing the crop without the use of harmful chemical pesticides, fertilizers and geneticallymodified seeds. This extra soft organic cotton collection is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment with systems in place to replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilisers, and build biologically diverse agriculture. Working with producer partner Fusion also ensures the dyes used in the printing process are treated through effluent treatment plants, meaning no discharge will be left in the local environment and will have zero impact on the surrounding communities. Fusion aims to make a positive change to the environment and its local community through the production and export of sustainable clothing. The company additionally supports forestation programs through the Bombay Natural History Society and education programmes for underprivileged children throughout Nanhikali.
